00:00When you're cooking up a killer, you may want them well done.
00:03Here's a look at the neck of toys, a Nightmare on Elm Street Freddy Furnace Diorama 2024 Reissue.
00:20Build incredible dioramas with this detailed replica of Freddy's furnace from the Nightmare on Elm Street films.
00:25The Nightmare's piece looks exactly like its on-screen counterpart, from the hinged door to the realistic weathering.
00:31You've even added a flickering LED light to simulate the furnace flames.
00:34Perfectly sized for NECA's line of 7-inch scale Freddy Krueger action figures, a must-have for any collection.
00:40Ah, it's getting so hot in here. Can somebody go and turn down the heat?
00:44A what? Oh, I own the place.
00:47Okay, I'll turn it down in a second.
00:49Before we, though, get a closer look at the Nightmare on Elm Street Freddy Furnace 2024 Reissue,
00:53let's take, though, the tape measure and see how tall it actually is.
00:56Now, there are some slight retoolings that they've done to this that wasn't on the original 2012 release.
01:02Of course, I'll be bringing that one in in a second so you guys can see the differences there.
01:06A big thank you again to the folks over at NECA that provided the sample of this one.
01:09Now, this one is right now over on their site as a pre-order.
01:12It's selling. Unfortunately, it has since sold out.
01:15It was going for $39.99 with a slated release drop date of the first quarter of 2025.
01:20Taking, though, the tape measure and seeing how tall this actually is,
01:23if I go right to the very top of the pipe, which doesn't change at all from the initial release of it,
01:27you're looking at the furnace being about 9 1⁄2 inches in height or about 23 1⁄2 centimeters tall.
01:34So, 2012, that's the last time I actually picked up the furnace.
01:38We're going to slide, actually, over this one, and I'll bring in the one from 2012.
01:41So, again, about, like, a 12 to 13-year difference.
01:44You can see, though, right away, not only some colors have been added to now the new one,
01:49but also the valve wasn't on the initial release.
01:52In fact, when I actually took this out of the packaging, initially, I did think that maybe that piece had broken off.
01:57But, no, it was never on the original furnace in the first place.
02:00It does have still the same functioning door. It still has the light-up flame inside.
02:04But there has been some tweaks. Again, we'll kind of cover off all the territory in a second.
02:07And, of course, we're going to be talking Freddy's furnaces. We have to also be including Freddy.
02:11Here's also the Freddy. I think this is the Freddy's Revenge Freddy.
02:14I don't know which reissue because I've picked up a couple of these.
02:17But at least it gives you a size idea of how big the furnaces are compared with the Master of Dreams.
02:22So, no, I wasn't dreaming. The first time we got the furnace, it didn't have the valve on the side of it.
02:28Just to kind of show you guys what the original one looked like.
02:31Again, for the most part, the molds are going to be shared the same.
02:34There has been, of course, some slight changes in paint.
02:37Still has the opening door. Unfortunately, though, I had to be the bearer of the bad news.
02:40While the door does still open, and I'll show you guys what the flame looks like inside on the new one,
02:45I can't actually get this one to work anymore.
02:47I went to go in there and change the batteries. It actually, in fact, takes three LR44 batteries.
02:52When I went to open this, I realized old me from the past left the batteries still in there.
02:58Unfortunately, they have corroded, and I tried to change the batteries again, and I can't get this to work anymore.
03:04For a little bit of flickering time, though, turning this on when I first took it out of the packaging,
03:09it did seem to flicker for a second, and then, of course, that fire was extinguished.
03:14The actual door does open up, although I find sometimes it's a little easier to get something just to assist with this.
03:19I got myself my nail clippers here. Just kind of get in there, open up the door.
03:23Just to show you, though, what the inside flame looked like, I don't know if you guys can see this or not,
03:27but initially, it was just a simple tea candle.
03:30Have you ever get the battery-powered tea candles, which might be one way I could actually work around this.
03:35If I could get the tea candle in there, although the biggest problem would also be to try to turn this on and off,
03:39I think sometimes, though, you can get a tea candle where you just press the flame.
03:43Do I really want to spend that much time just to fix something that has now already been proved upon?
03:48I don't know.
03:49Either way, though, you can see that inside, the original furnace did have reflective surface on the back of it,
03:54just to kind of help reflect some of the light inside.
03:57The tea light, though, was very simple in design, which, again, I'm only hoping that the camera can properly pick up,
04:02but the door is still opened and closed, and, of course, you did have the pipe running on the side.
04:07It did have, though, a valve, but it didn't have the little valve meter on the side.
04:11It did also have a little rag, which really was hard to kind of see the rag when you compared it with the coloring of the rest of the furnace
04:17because so much of it was browns.
04:19It was lighter browns, yes, incorporated in there as well, but for the most part, it was a very brown-looking furnace.
04:24It is also very hollow as well, obviously, because it has to contain the light inside.
04:28It's got little burn marks there, charred marks from the side of it, just as it's gotten as hot as it has.
04:33But to show you guys, though, what the new furnace is, so we're going to go ahead and pick this one up.
04:38I did notice, though, right away that the plastic feels different, whereas this one,
04:43hopefully you guys can see the kind of way I'm squishing this.
04:47I don't want to describe it as an animal toy, but if you've ever been around like an animal squishy toy,
04:52it sort of had sort of that same squishy style of plastic material.
04:57The new, though, furnace that we're getting here for the 2024 reissue does have still soft plastic,
05:03but it seems like the plastic is a lot harder, though.
05:06It does also have, if you guys can see this here, let me just pick up this one,
05:11it's got a little bit more of a solid sound to it.
05:15Not that, again, that makes much of a difference.
05:17The molds, though, again, are exactly the same, whereas the original rag was done here all in black,
05:22so it basically just kept the same color as the rest of the pipe.
05:25Now, though, with the new one, we actually get a white rag.
05:28Now, the rags themselves are actually different from one another.
05:32So, again, if you're just kind of looking at this and thinking,
05:34okay, well, the new one is just only going to have a new coat of paint.
05:37Both the rag, just, again, show you guys the differences between the rags.
05:40So, the rag's a little bit wider on the 2012.
05:43Now, on the 2024, it's a little bit smaller, it's a little more defined.
05:46The valve wheel is also larger, too, whereas the first one was smaller in size.
05:51The new one gets a little bit bigger, and it gets a whole lot more red.
05:54The pipes, from what I can see, are exactly the same,
05:56although the original one did actually have a little bit more coarseness to the metal,
06:02although, again, this is all done here in plastic.
06:04They seem to have now smoothed the pipe.
06:06So, you can see it has a lot less weathering and damage done to the top of the pipe.
06:11It's certainly a lot more smoother of a pipe.
06:13Now, the pipes themselves seem to be maybe the same.
06:16I can't help but also think that maybe, like this part,
06:18the connecting part of the pipe is wider than the original initial one as well.
06:22But the biggest thing, too, is not only is the rag different,
06:25not only is the valve wheel different,
06:27but also now we've got a meter on the side, which wasn't there before.
06:30Again, when you look at the two really now,
06:32the new one has so much more detail and certainly a lot more color going for it.
06:36The battery compartments don't look like they're that at all different from one another.
06:40Again, like this one, you can see it's printed and stamped down below as NECA 2012.
06:45The new one now, even though it does say NECA 2012,
06:48because it's probably likely using the same bottom base,
06:50this was actually, again, going to be releasing in 2024 or 2025,
06:55when I think it starts to ship the first quarter.
06:57So, of course, this is all fine and good just to talk about some of the details
07:00and show you guys, obviously, the differences between the two.
07:02And hopefully you guys can see there's enough merits to be made as to,
07:05if you already have, say, for example, the original furnace,
07:07to maybe venture off and try to pick up the 2024 reissue.
07:10Now, again, like this one does have the light-up feature.
07:13The door does open up the somewhat same awkward way.
07:16Let's just go ahead and grab myself. There we go.
07:18Open that up a little bit.
07:20Hopefully you guys can see.
07:21And don't worry, you'll see a whole lot better in a second.
07:23Instead of having simply just a tea candle light,
07:26what they've now done instead is they've sculpted a full flame.
07:29There also seems to be...
07:31I'll just put this down here for a second.
07:33There seems to also be...
07:35Door is always the hardest thing to open up.
07:37Well, all around the tea light was just completely flat.
07:40And which, again, you probably will...
07:42I need to really get myself a light. Hold on one second.
07:45Yeah, I just want to grab myself a flashlight so I can show you guys the inside of it.
07:48See how all it is is just a tea light inside,
07:51but then all the stuff around it is just the bottom of the base of the furnace.
07:55So nothing has changed here.
07:57There again is the reflective surface there in the back.
07:59I know it's kind of a bit of a bright light.
08:01But to show you guys what the new one is,
08:03not only is the flame different,
08:05but also you can see around it,
08:07there's all the ash just in the far corner.
08:09Hey, that's a really cool feature.
08:11You can see that there's a skull.
08:13There's some bones.
08:15There's a couple of skulls there over to the side as well.
08:17I look like I'm forensics.
08:19The only thing it doesn't seem to have...
08:21There's also a teddy bear.
08:23From what I can see...
08:25There's some skulls also in the back.
08:27I can't quite make out whether there's a Freddy glove actually inside.
08:29That would be a fun Easter egg had they included it,
08:32but that they added so much more than the initial release had.
08:36Of course, if we want to kind of see the full effect of this,
08:39we're going to go ahead and flip this on.
08:41There was a restriction piece of plastic.
08:43I've already taken the liberty, obviously, of removing that.
08:45But we're going to switch it on.
08:47And here's what the flame looks like inside.
08:50And just to turn this a little bit.
08:52Because, again, it still has the reflective back to it.
08:55It's going to kind of really help to emit that light a lot brighter.
08:58And now we have our flame rather than just a simple tea light.
09:01They've completely finished all around it.
09:04So instead of it just being a circular disc with the flame sticking out,
09:07concealing it completely,
09:09now, again, you've got all the ashes and what's remaining of the bodies.
09:13Again, it would have been nice had they found a way to incorporate Freddy's glove,
09:16but really nice the fact that they have updated it as well as they have.
09:20The only one other thing I would have loved to see the new issue of the furnace actually have
09:25is maybe some sound effects.
09:27Not that I want to hear shrieking and screaming, but at the very least,
09:30maybe just crackling sounds, maybe the sound of a furnace.
09:33Something just because, again, if you're going to be putting this on a shelf,
09:36it would be nice if it did something more than just light up.
09:39Again, if you want to close the door there,
09:41you want to make sure that Freddy doesn't actually get out.
09:43This is what the flame looks like still inside.
09:45A much more realistic flame.
09:47It flickers naturally like a flame would do as well.
09:49It's certainly, though, a vast improvement over, again, like the original one
09:53that, unfortunately, up to the time of doing this review,
09:55I expected I could have gone in there and just turned on the light,
09:58but, unfortunately, fate would not have that
10:00because, unfortunately, I had a corroded battery.
10:02I took all the batteries out.
10:04I cleaned the connectors as best I could
10:06because a lot of times, though, even if you have a bleeding battery,
10:08an acid-leaking battery,
10:10a lot of times you can still go in there and clean the connectors.
10:12I went in there. I did that.
10:14Unfortunately, though, I still couldn't get it to work.
10:17But, in the end, though, I think it's certainly an upgrade
10:19to the original one that we did get,
10:21well, like 13 years. We're now coming up to 13 years ago
10:23that we did get the first Freddy furnace.
10:25It's still one of my beloved, favorite things
10:28that we got from an accessory standpoint.
10:30I mean, of course, when it comes to accessories,
10:32Freddy got blessed with two of them.
10:34The fact that we got this one, and also we had the TV set
10:36with the Freddy worm, the Elm Street sign.
10:38But I love this one.
10:40I do kind of wish, though, in a way, like once again,
10:42it could have had some sound effects to it
10:44because as good as it may be,
10:46it has actually lights and the flickering flames.
10:48Some sound effects added to that would have also been nice as well.
10:50But again, like I went into this
10:52simply just thinking it was going to be this,
10:54and they were just going to be coloring it better
10:56for the new release.
10:58But as you can see, look, pipes are completely different.
11:00The valve and the rag are different from one another.
11:02And they also now have a meter that wasn't there before.
11:04Of course, now to bring back in Freddy Krueger,
11:06even though this isn't really the first Freddy
11:08from the Nightmare on Elm Street,
11:10at least this one will be a serviceable stand-in
11:12for this review.
11:14I love the improvements that have been made
11:16on the Freddy furnace.
11:18It goes to show, though, that NECA doesn't just look
11:20at a way to reissue.
11:22A lot of times, one thing that they've already done before,
11:24that they can go back in there.
11:26They can tweak the things that need to be tweaked.
11:28And as a result, we get a much better one
11:30what, 12 years or 13 years later.
11:32Seeing the changes that have been made
11:34to the new reissue of this furnace,
11:36I can see why it sold out as fast as it did.
11:38Not only for first-time collectors of the furnace
11:40who never got the chance to get the initial release of it,
11:42but also ones that had already picked up the furnace
11:44back in 2012,
11:46that see the improvements,
11:48that see the changes that have been made to this one,
11:50and want to get the updated release of it.
11:52It doesn't mean necessarily that it casts a shadow,
11:54and it means that the other one
11:56is an inferior flamed furnace.
11:58In fact, one of the good things about it, though,
12:00is that there has been changes made to this one,
12:02but if you have the original one,
12:04you can easily still have this one on the shelf,
12:06and they look like they're two different types of furnaces.
12:08The flame is certainly one of the biggest improvements
12:10about this,
12:12is that instead of it just being a tea light,
12:14now we've actually got a fully functioning,
12:16flickering flame.
12:18Also, one of the things I do really like
12:20is all the little Easter eggs of having skulls, bones,
12:22and even a little teddy bear in there as well.
12:24All these eerie reminders
12:26that Freddy once was a child killer,
12:28before, of course, he was burned by the parents of Elm Street.
12:30What do you guys, though, think of the Freddy furnace?
12:32Had you already picked up the original one,
12:34and could you now see yourselves
12:36wanting to get this one also?
12:38Like I did say, though, that this is slated to drop
12:40the first quarter of 2025.
12:42Sad news, though, is that it doesn't exist anymore,
12:44at least from the stock standpoint,
12:46on NECA's.
12:48I mean, at one point it was selling for $39.95,
12:50that has sold out on their site,
12:52but I'm sure there's still ways that you could probably
12:54pick this up through aftermarkets, like eBay,
12:56other selling sites as well,
12:58or hey, why not? You can also maybe even wait it out.
13:00If it sold as well as it did,
13:02there may even be a likelihood that NECA's
13:04would go and reissue this again.
13:06But again, a big thank you to the folks over at NECA
13:08that provided the sample of the 2024
13:10Freddy furnace, that we could have a look at its review.
13:12If you guys did enjoy this video,
13:14you can certainly do it a solid by throwing a like.
13:16You guys want to stick around for more so?
13:18I certainly hope so. You can hit the subscribe,
13:20you can turn on that bell, and of course,
13:22you can always come back.
13:24As always, thanks for watching. See you guys next time.
13:34Thanks for watching.
