00:00So we're here at Ford Hall Farm with Ben Hollins. Hello sir.
00:05Hello.
00:06Mark it Drayton. Ben, it's a family farm, yeah?
00:10Yeah, a family run farm. My sister and I run the farm and we've taken over the farm from our parents.
00:17And how long have your parents been farming here?
00:19We've been here, our family, on our family tree for quite a few generations.
00:23Three or four generations on our family tree, so a long time. We've got a lot of family history.
00:27So what have you got here in terms of retail then? We're kind of featuring the shop and that side of things.
00:32So talk us through what people have never been here before, what they can expect and what goods they can pick up.
00:37Yeah, so a lot of people specifically come to us for our unique thing which is our pasture fed meat.
00:42So on the farm we have cattle, pigs and sheep and we produce all our own meat from those which we process through the butchery.
00:47The butchers make all of our bacon, all of our sausages, make all of our burgers and we bone out all of the beef, lamb and the pork.
00:55All of our pork is lost to our spot and it's all free range on the farm.
00:59We have Aberdeen Angus, pasture fed beef and pasture fed lamb.
01:03So Tom, what's special about the meat here at Cordill Farm?
01:06So the animals themselves are pasture raised from the point of birth up to the point of slaughter.
01:11So with them being pasture raised throughout the course of their life on completely natural organic land,
01:17we're getting a much better quality product as well as a really high standard of meat.
01:25So particular favourites of you is the beef?
01:29Yeah, beef is one of my favourites, rib eye steak is always going to be my go to.
01:34But it's quite rare that I manage to get myself one of those steaks because they sell like absolute hotcakes.
01:39Buy it for yourself, yeah great stuff.
01:41Well thank you Tom for letting us into your fridge.
01:44And you've got quite a few nice little products, local products.
01:48Some handmade chocolates made in Shrewsbury with some nice market-draken gingerbread.
01:52So there's quite a few other little bits that people can pick up as well isn't there?
01:55Yeah that's right, so even though we started out with the butchery and the meat and the produce from the farmers are core products,
02:01we've got a whole host of other products filling the farm shop now.
02:05From local cheeses to organic vegetables to honey to fresh local milk to yoghurts.
02:11Everything you can think of that you'd like to find in the local farm shop we've got.
02:14And are you where you want to be size wise? Have you found the perfect combination of size and retail?
02:21Yeah the farm's fully stocked now with all the livestock and it's nice that we're managing to retail everything ourselves
02:27either through the farm shop or through the online shop.
02:30And obviously you have loads of different events in the summer on the farm, the kids and stuff.
02:35So people can check out your socials I guess for all that.
02:37That's it, check out the social media, I'll keep you on the website.
02:40There's lots of opportunities for people to come and see the farm in the school holidays and on weekends
02:44and come and have a walk around the farm trails.
02:46Great stuff, well thank you Ben and good luck for your future business.
02:49Thank you very much.
