00:00The latest numbers on the labor sector show, among others, the country's employment rate climbing three-tenths of a percentage point in December of last year.
00:09Something positive for government definitely to build on as the Department of Labor and Employment continues to hold as many job fairs as it could muster.
00:17As we hear more numbers and details from Maribel Custodia's report.
00:22The employment rate in the Philippines climbed to 96 percent based on the latest labor force survey of the Philippine Statistics Authority last December 2024, totaling to 50.19 million employed Filipinos.
00:35The employment rate for the whole year 2024 is 96.2 percent higher compared to the employment rate for the whole year 2023 which was 95.6 percent.
00:47The unemployment rate remained steady at 3.1 percent while under employment hit 10.9 percent.
00:53Transportation, construction and public service sector workers increased.
00:58The National Capital Region is one of the top job havens for job seekers.
01:02Generally, the NCR has increased. The NCR's employment rate has increased.
01:10The President also has a directive that job fairs will be held every month.
01:15The Department of Labor and Employment is continuously hosting job fairs through the Trabaho para sa Bayan for the 12,000 graduating students in Metro Manila who are beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program.
01:27The DOLE is working hand in hand with the Department of Social Welfare and Development and PESO.
01:31Here in the NCR, we have displaced workers of the IGL of Pogo.
01:37That is why we are also hosting job fairs for our displaced workers of Pogo.
01:46The President has a directive that they should look for a job.
01:50Job fair is scheduled to take place in Iloilo and Davao this month.
01:54Meanwhile, DOLE is ready to conduct labor inspection in case Congress ratifies the proposed additional 200 pesos in the minimum wage.
02:02We are going to our employers and establishments to see if they are compliant with the general labor standards that include minimum wage.
02:18The labor inspection will also examine whether social benefits provided to the employees are correct and complete.
