00:00Live on SportsGrid, we're out here on Radio Row in New Orleans, Kevin Walsh, Raheem Moster
00:06running back for the Miami Dolphins.
00:08He's been in a Super Bowl before, it is Super Bowl week, Raheem, how are we feeling?
00:12Feeling great.
00:13You know, it's a great matchup.
00:16Two prominent teams that have done exceptionally well this year and, you know, I don't know
00:22man, I want to see who's going to win this thing.
00:24I have a good feeling that both teams can end up losing, right?
00:28But no, it's going to be a good game, I'm going to be watching for sure.
00:32Now we'll get down to brass tacks, but people are probably thinking, wow, Kev, that's the
00:36best you've looked on air all year.
00:38Why am I wearing these?
00:39What's the story out here with GoDaddy?
00:41Yeah, so out here we partner with GoDaddy.
00:44They have been in hiatus for a while in regards to advertisement for the Super Bowl and now
00:50they're back with their new platform that they just launched coming up.
00:55It's called GoDaddy Aero and it's AI technology for, you know, to get small businesses up
01:02and running and help them expand in the small business world.
01:09And what we have here is the Walton Goggles, Walton Goggins Goggles.
01:14So they're pretty neat.
01:15He's a small business owner that created these goggles and they're comfortable, they're really
01:20comfortable.
01:21They are legitimately very comfortable.
01:23I wear my regular glasses.
01:25I put these on.
01:26This is a nice little break for me here.
01:29Let's talk some ballroom.
01:30So here's my question to you.
01:32We're out here in New Orleans.
01:33It's pretty nice weather, right?
01:35So that would be good weather for the Miami Dolphins.
01:37You guys have to be aware because it's been addressed.
01:41When it's freezing, things don't operate as smoothly.
01:45Maybe that's normal.
01:46Maybe it's not.
01:47I want you to tell me.
01:48Do you think there is something about your group, you know, led by two at the quarterback
01:52Coach Mike McDaniel, where you guys get into those frigid temperatures and it impacts what
01:57you're trying to do?
01:58Yeah, I don't, I think it's just, we try not to think that it's the element factor, right?
02:03It's more so a mindset.
02:05Our mindset is, hey, we're just going to go out here and try to win the game.
02:09Now being in Miami, you do have the luxury of, you know, playing in warm weather at times.
02:16But if you think about it, I mean, we beat New York in the Jets in cold weather before.
02:21So it hasn't really dawned on us the fact that we're playing against really good teams
02:26in cold weather.
02:27It's just, you know, those teams are just, they just had our number that day.
02:31You know, and that's the way that, you know, it works out in the NFL.
02:35It felt maybe like it was kind of a perfect storm thing, right?
02:39I think it's hyper-focused because you do play in Miami, so the weather's always really
02:42nice.
02:43You play in one of the coldest games of all time last year.
02:47That arrowhead, obviously, which I imagine had to be a completely different thing than
02:52you've ever experienced weather-wise.
02:53Yeah, no, that was definitely by far the worst conditions I've ever played in.
03:00I played in pretty harsh conditions, you know, playing out of Purdue, you know, Indiana,
03:06and going to Iowa, playing in Iowa in the cold, going to Ohio, playing up there, you
03:12know, Michigan.
03:14Those places are cold, but nothing beat that game, man.
03:17I tell you what.
03:18Tell me, for you playing in both Kyle and Mike McDaniel's offenses, you know, Mike kind
03:23of comes from the Shanahan tree.
03:26What about those, the way those guys, I guess, are scheming up the run game, create so many
03:31opportunities for a player like yourself?
03:33Yeah, you know, it's a run-style offense, and we've transitioned and tweaked a couple
03:41things in our offense with the Dolphins, you know, utilizing a little more speed and
03:48motions and everything like that.
03:50Now, motions go hand-in-hand with play action and everything like that, so you have to account
03:57for all that stuff as a defense, right?
03:59But yeah, it's just trying to tweak the offense a little bit, and we've been able to do that.
04:04Unfortunately, this year was a little bit of a rigid road for us due to some injuries
04:09and everything like that, and not clicking on the same pages, but I mean, once again,
04:14that's just how ball goes, right?
04:16I mean, yeah, injuries can dictate a lot, right, and it hit you guys in a tough way.
04:21I think you were comfortably over .500 when Tua was out there.
04:26It clearly impacted Tyreek, that post-game, kind of like, yeah, I got to get out of here.
04:31I'm curious, when you saw that, when you heard that, did you have a reaction?
04:34Yeah, you know, when we finished that game against the Jets, and then we headed to the
04:41locker room, you know, I just came out the shower, and one of our media guys gave us
04:48a heads-up that, you know, Tyreek said those words, and for me, I didn't take it personal,
04:54because I know the type of competitor he is.
04:57You know, I do, however, feel like you shouldn't ever quit on the team.
05:01That's just because we're all bleeding out there, but when you're a competitor and you're
05:06just so fed up with how the year has gone for yourself and gone for the team and gone
05:10for the organization, at some point, you do have that breaking point, and I'm not, you
05:15know, faulting him for his actions or anything like that, but, you know, he does have a right
05:21to feel that way.
05:22He does have a right to feel, you know, discouraged about how the season went, how he played,
05:28and, yeah, I mean, you know, you have, for him, and I've had multiple conversations
05:34with him, you know, he's one of my guys, you know, we were texting back and forth this
05:37morning when he's coming out here, and we're going to grab a dinner or something like that,
05:43but, you know, he's definitely, having those talks with him, he's definitely one of those
05:47competitors that just wants to win.
05:49He knows what winning looks like.
05:50He has a Super Bowl, you know, unfortunately I don't, because I lost to him, but, you know,
05:55he has one of those championship mindsets in him, so, you can't fault him for feeling
06:02that way.
06:03Can I ask you, I mean, you know, if it's a personal conversation, but, have you touched
06:07base with him?
06:08Does he still want in?
06:09Yeah, oh yeah, no, he definitely wants in, he's a competitor, he wants to win, you know,
06:13he just...
06:14In Miami.
06:15In Miami, yeah, he was just fed up at that moment, you know, and just like everybody
06:18else was, but they just didn't have the courage to say it like he did, and he's a guy that's
06:24just truly a competitor, and wants to win.
06:27Yeah, now, I want to ask you about the game against Green Bay, NFB title game, you know,
06:33for 224 scores, and it's one of those things, I don't know, I probably can't actually imagine
06:40what that is like.
06:41Yeah.
06:42Saquon had, you know, a few games this year, right?
06:44Hey, I'll tell you what, I was nervous, Kev, about that one, I thought he was going to
06:48break the record, I was watching him, I'm like, man, the first two handoffs were touchdowns
06:52already, and then his first one, he ran for 50, 60 yards, so I was like, oh my goodness,
06:58he's about to break this record.
07:00But for you, and that's awesome to think about, but is there like a moment in a game where
07:07you go, ooh, this could be a big game here?
07:10Yeah, when you, it's something about, you know, when you get that, like for me with
07:15that game, I got that first handoff, and you know, I was like, all right, I'm feeling it,
07:20and then my first touchdown, it was like a 50 yard, 40, 50 yard, or 30, 40, 50 yard,
07:24I can't remember.
07:2536, I was looking at.
07:26Oh, 36, okay, so yeah.
07:27All right, so yeah, the 36 yarder, and at first, I was just trying to get some yards,
07:33because it was a third and long, you know, we were in field goal range, trying to make
07:36it a little bit easier, but once you saw the hole, you're like, okay, yep, it's time to
07:40go, and then the rest just so happened, you know, we didn't have to pass the ball, we
07:46knew that we could take advantage of the run game, and we did that.
07:51I'll get you out on this, Raheem, and again, we're out here in New Orleans, Raheem Moser,
07:55he's with GoDaddy.
07:57Do you feel that the season Saquon had, Derek Henry, some of what we saw from your guys'
08:05rush attack, especially I know last year, there was a lot of explosive plays, McCaffrey's
08:11season, the running back position is about to get re-elevated, and start to get a little
08:17bit more respect, maybe a couple extra dollars?
08:19Yeah, you know, I've had this conversation with multiple people, and I truly feel like,
08:24you know, what's been on display these past couple years, you know, at the running back
08:30position, it's only necessary that, you know, our pay increases, I saw a stat the other
08:37day that, you know, Saquon is tied for 27th, or something like that, highest paid receiver,
08:46and to imagine the things that he's done this year, I wouldn't say he carried the team,
08:53you know, to the Super Bowl, but he's definitely been a very beneficial part, and an intricate
08:58part in the offense.
09:00I said this to someone the other day, and I'm trying to elevate both parties, Saquon
09:04Barkley is as important as Justin Jefferson, and I don't even think that people would
09:09disagree with that.
09:10Yeah, no, I mean, you can't disagree with that.
09:13He's helping the position so much, and he's helping, you know, just like everybody though,
09:18if you look at it now, yeah, this league, our position takes the most beating, right?
09:26Because we take the most hits, you know, unlike receivers, and that's, I mean, you gotta do
09:32right, you gotta do right by the position itself, so it's encouraging to see guys getting
09:37their opportunities and raising the position and its value.
09:42Yeah, absolutely so.
09:43All right, man, Raheem Ostert, out here in New Orleans with Codaddy, it was an absolute
09:49pleasure.
09:50Thanks for joining us.
09:51Yeah, thank you, Kev, I appreciate you, man, huge fan, brother.
09:53You look good, too, man.
09:54Yeah, I feel great.
09:55I feel great.
09:56Yes, sir.
