00:00Charlie, on to Birmingham City. Now, obviously, we've discussed a few times their heavy investment
00:06and they're clearly building for the future fortunes of the club. I mean, the owners are
00:11fully on board, the fans are really enjoying their time in League One this season that
00:15looks to be obviously short-lived with their ambitions to go up. Just summarise the January
00:21business and where they are standing ahead of the remainder of the season.
00:26Yeah, it wasn't the most busy window for Birmingham in the winter. That's because
00:30they got most of their business done in the summer transfer window, as we know how much
00:35money they spent completely tearing apart the League One transfer records. It was mainly
00:39focused on free additions and those for the summer as well. So Phil Newman, a centre-back
00:44who plays for Hanover in the second tier of German football, he was looked at by a host
00:49of Bundesliga clubs. Quite quick yet tall centre-back. He'll be joining up with Blues
00:54in the summer after signing a pre-contract agreement. Grant Hanley came in from Norwich
00:59City. He was the Canaries captain. He wasn't really getting that much game time in the
01:03championship this season, but he's played so many games in the EFL throughout his career.
01:07He's got Premier League experience as well. He just bolsters a squad depth for Blues
01:11at the back. It's been confirmed Taylor Gardner-Hickman will sign permanently from
01:16Bristol City in the summer. Not happening just yet, but Birmingham World's understanding
01:21is £1.5 million, which I think is a bargain for a player who can play in so many different
01:26positions. And then on deadline day, they signed a South Korean international, a left-back.
01:32He's played seven times in the World Cup qualifiers recently. Should have some decent
01:35experience, a left-back. Obviously, Leigh Buchanan's season-ending injury was a big
01:40blow to Blues, but they've now got the necessary depth in that position.
01:44Yeah, and Blues is running, obviously flying near the top of the table. How important is
01:50it that they just keep plodding on and they could even go near their rivals Wolves'
01:55League One points record?
01:58Yeah, it's a shame that they lost those games earlier in the season against Charlton Shrewsbury
02:01because they could have potentially been unbeaten this year, but that doesn't really matter.
02:06The main goal was getting promoted back to the championship and it looks like they'll
02:09do that in style. They should win the league title and I don't see any way that they don't.
02:1418 matches unbeaten is just simply incredible. Going on to the semi-finals of the Virtue
02:19Trophy, playing Newcastle in the FA Cup is always an exciting prospect. It's just such
02:24a fantastic time at St Andrews and the buzz around the place, sellouts most week, home
02:30and away. Chris Davies, the Birmingham manager, will be delighted with how things are going.
