00:00The House of Representatives Tri-Committee Investigating Fake News and Online Disinformation
00:05issued show-cause orders to social media personalities who failed to show up in the committee's first
00:10hearing.
00:11The committee invited 40 social media personalities, with some submitting excused letters to justify
00:16their absence, including former Marcos Press Secretary Trixie Cruz Angeles.
00:20Attorney Trixie Cruz Angeles, I respectfully decline this invitation as I question the
00:24legality of the inquiry for being violative of the constitutional guarantee of free speech.
00:29Aside from Angeles, the following are slapped with show-cause orders despite submitting
00:33letters.
00:34This means they will be cited in contempt and ordered arrested should they fail to attend
00:38the next hearing.
00:41Among those invited and had failed to appear but were not issued show-cause orders were
00:45National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict officials Lorraine Badoy and
00:49Jeffrey Celis, former broadcaster Jay Sonza, and bloggers Sas Sasot and Banat Bai, among
00:54others.
