00:00Because of the extraordinary increase in the price of rice, and not because of the lack of supply,

00:09the Food Security Emergency declared a rice shortage.

00:12This was clarified this morning by the Department of Agriculture following the declaration yesterday of the Food Security Emergency.

00:19Under the Visa of the Department Circular No. 3, Series of 2025,

00:23the DA is asking the National Food Authority to issue a buffer stock of rice.

00:29It will be sold to local governments and government agencies.

00:33150,000 metric tons of rice were issued by the NFA within 6 months,

00:40but it may still change depending on the duration of the implementation of the Food Security Emergency.

00:48Earlier in the press conference of the DA,

00:50it was said that the NFA will sell the buffer stock to LGUs for P33 per kilo,
