00:00A party list nominee was arrested by the police, but the police said that the nominee was shot first when he was supposed to be arrested.

00:14Around 11 in the morning yesterday, two men approached LeJun de la Cruz,
00:19nominee of the party list owner and former member of the Alex Boncayau Brigade.
00:23He was supposed to be removed from a plate in Caintarizal,
00:26but he tried to talk to him about the arrest of the group.
00:29But when he saw one of them pulling a gun, he immediately got in the car and ran away.
00:41LeJun was chased until he was cornered in Karangalan Village in Caintar.
00:45That's when LeJun learned that the police were chasing him.
00:50We believe that this is a failed assassination attempt on our client.
00:54This was denied by the Marikina Police.
00:56An intel operative from de la Cruz was able to track down the nominee,
00:59so they verified with the court that he still had an outstanding warrant of arrest.
01:03The police were in the middle of a civil war so that the nominee would not be affected by the operation.
01:07And in their version, even though the nominee recognized the police, they were shot by de la Cruz.
01:11They were able to get a .45 caliber gun from the car of de la Cruz.
01:16When he was informed, he pulled a gun.
01:19So our police took the lead.
01:22Now, when the police shot him, he got in the car.

01:34De la Cruz was arrested on the basis of the warrant of arrest issued by the Las Pinas RTC in 2018 and 2020.
01:41His lawyer said that the 2018 warrant is related to the assassination of the brother of Dante Jimenez of the VACC in 1992,
01:49even though the spelling of the name is incorrect.
01:51De la Cruz's lawyer also said that there is an immunity from suit
01:55or that de la Cruz cannot be charged because of the peace agreement of 2000 between the government and the ABB.
02:02Metro Manila Rizal Party appointed Alex Boncayobrige as an urban guerrilla unit in the 1970s.
02:09If there is a peace agreement, the court will not tell us that his existing warrant is still valid.
02:20In the end, one of the police was arrested who was riding a motorcycle and was being treated in the hospital.
02:25Because of this, De la Cruz will be charged with frustrated homicide,
02:28illegal possession of firearm, violation of the omnibus election code, and multiple malicious mischief.
