00:00Hello, I'm Nathan Judah. I'm delighted to be joined by World Supporters, Mr. Liam Keane.
00:14Liam, it's Sunday, but it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter whether it's Saturday, Sunday,
00:17Tuesday, Thursday. We're here doing videos, whether we're on shift, whether we're off shift,
00:20whether we're sleeping, whether we're awake, it doesn't matter. The most important thing is
00:24things are developing, and that means that we are here to bring you some beautiful news,
00:28whether it's a post-match video with the 2-0 win against Aston Villa, whether it's a midnight video
00:34with the latest transfer situation with Mateus Cunha, the situation with Spurs and Kevin Danso,
00:39the situation with Hearts moving Sunday and Monday, or on Sunday, is it a video now to tell
00:45you what is happening and give you some names about who Wolves might sign, who is in the mix.
00:50Mr. Liam Keane, and we let the peeps know. Let's start off with a potential deal, potential
00:57interest in a certain midfielder. What an intro, first of all. Very impressive.
01:05I've just had a bubble tea, so I'm a little bit buzzed.
01:09Your numbers are kicking around. Yes, this midfielder, a player that Wolves have
01:15held interest in previously. They've looked at him in previous transfer windows,
01:18a long-term admirers of him. Josh Brownhill at Burnley, a player we've spoken about before,
01:24a player the Wolves have looked at. He's had a really impressive season so far. At 29 years old,
01:30he's been club captain at Burnley, third in the championship vying for promotion again. He's got
01:36nine goals and four assists from centre midfield, which is pretty impressive. He's a player that
01:43Wolves have had a lot of interest in for quite some time. When it comes to bringing in players
01:47in this transfer window, today and tomorrow with the deadline at 11pm tomorrow on Monday,
01:55Wolves are going to have to move quickly to get some deals over the line.
01:58They will have a list of players in every position that they're interested in. The two positions
02:03they're going for are defender and midfielder. No guarantee they're going to get both,
02:07but they want both if they can do it. We'd probably be surprised if they don't get at least
02:12one of them. Among the list of players in midfield, some that are out there, some that
02:18aren't out there, Josh Brownhill is among them. He's got six months left on his contract at
02:23Burnley. There's a lot of competition from other clubs. Celtic, other Premier League clubs have
02:29all been credited with interest in him. Wolves would have to pay a transfer fee, you would
02:35imagine, to get him. You don't think Burnley would send him on loan with only six months left
02:38of his deal, so they would have to pay some money to bring him in. But what he does do,
02:44if they do decide to make a move, is he fits a homegrown criteria for their squad. I'll very
02:50quickly, because it can be confusing, explain this. Of the 25-man squad that Wolves are allowed
02:56to have in the Premier League, which is for players 21 and older, anyone below that doesn't
03:01count. In that 25 group of players, 17 of them are allowed to be non-homegrown, and the remaining
03:09eight can be homegrown players. Wolves' 17 currently is all taken up. Mosquera will come
03:16off, Agbidu will come on, so that's one for one. You're then left with a situation of, does Lamina
03:22go, does Lamina stay? That's a question mark. Does Sacha Clyde just come off the squad list,
03:27considering he's not ready to play at the moment, which is a decision Wolves could make.
03:31But they've got two free homegrown spots at the moment, with Luke Cundall being sold to Millwall,
03:36and if Brownhill was a player they decide to move for, he would fill one of those spots,
03:40and they'd be able to get that deal done. So when it comes to midfielders and centre-backs,
03:47the squad is something they have to really consider.
03:5029 years old, championship, Burnley one point outside the automatic promotion at this moment
03:54in time. Six months left on his deal, nine goals this season, four assists.
03:57Why would Burnley let go of their captain when they're trying to get into the Premier League?
04:02Well, I don't think they would, would they? Or at the very least, they're not going to want to.
04:06For the player, he's been at Burnley since 2020, so I'm sure he's got a lot of affinity with the
04:10club. For the player, potentially a big move back to the Premier League, or elsewhere, as I say,
04:16other clubs are interested in him. If reports are to be believed, I believe there are clubs abroad
04:22interested in him as a free agent as well in the summer. He's got his options,
04:27and he'll have his own ambitions as well. He may have one last big move potentially as well at 29,
04:32to get a good contract elsewhere, get a three-, four-year contract somewhere.
04:36So it'll be a very interesting one to watch how it develops. There's no guarantee, as we say,
04:41that Wolves are going to move for him, but he's certainly a player that is on that list
04:45that they are interested in as we go into the final hours of the window.
04:48Peter Boros talked about getting a midfielder in, defensive-minded midfielder as well. I know
04:52he's got a lot of goals, but you do think he's more of a defensive-minded midfielder than what
04:55we've seen in the past. Someone who's got an engine, someone who can run all over the place,
04:58who can cover a lot of ground. Does Brownhill fit that mantra? Also, in terms of Josh Brownhill,
05:06not the sexiest name for fans, would he? It's not one who's going to be... Let's be honest,
05:09the fans are going to be excited about if he does come. Now, look, it doesn't matter whether
05:12they're sexy or not, as long as they're effective. But can you understand that there might be a
05:17little bit of trepidation among the fan base if and when they do move for Brownhill?
05:21Yeah, I think so. Because, understandably, fans are going to want exciting names and exciting
05:27players. It doesn't necessarily mean that if Wolves go for Brownhill, he can't do a job in
05:30this team. What has this team been missing? It's been missing leadership, it's been missing a bit
05:34of physicality, and it's been missing a little bit of that scrap and that fight in them. Brownhill's
05:40a player that can bring those things. If you can bring that effort, which, by the way, should be
05:45a prerequisite of any footballer. Unfortunately, at times, Wolves have been a little bit lacking
05:49in that department. Then he will add something to this team. Now, at the same time, Vitor Pereira
05:56has got to sign off on the players. We know he's been a little bit picky this window as well with
05:59some players. So if they don't bring the signings in, it'd be interesting to see to what degree he
06:06is frustrated at the end of the window if he's turned players down. It can't be both ways,
06:10necessarily. But, yeah, I think he's a player that would add something to this team as a,
06:16not necessarily an instant starter, but someone who can make a difference,
06:20particularly in some of those tough Premier League games. Wolves have really got to dig in.
06:46I could be setting myself up for a fall here, but I'm going to put my neck on the line and say
06:58this anyway. Of those two positions, in an ideal world, Wolves would like to bring both in. But
07:04with it becoming increasingly unlikely that Lamina leaves, and if he does, it would have to be
07:10somewhere like Turkey, potentially, with limited time left in the window and their window being
07:15open a week longer. It's becoming more likely that he may get integrated back into this side
07:20and Wolves don't bring a midfielder in. So with that in mind, this centre-back position,
07:25I would hedge my bets to say is the priority between now and 11pm on Monday. As you say,
07:30Danso was agreed, ready to go. He'd already arrived in England, was in London, travelling
07:35to Wolverhampton on Sunday, and on Saturday night Spurs swooped and hijacked the deal.
07:39He's no longer coming to Wolves, but Wolves will still be keen and moving for a centre-back.
07:44And again, amongst a long list of players that they'll be interested in and taking a look at,
07:51there are two names that we can confirm are of interest, and again, players that they could
07:55move forward in the final hours of the window. One of them being Danish centre-back. For both
08:00of these players, by the way, please excuse my pronunciation, but I'll give it a good go.
08:03Here we go.
08:04Don't do that. Danish centre-back, Thomas Thiessen Christensen. That's the easy one of the two,
08:09so I think I've done all right there. Yeah, 23 years old, only joined Udinese in 2023 from a
08:15small Danish side called AGF. They do have a longer name, which is no way I'm going to try
08:20and pronounce. He's played 12 times in Serie A this season. Seems to be the mould of player that
08:26Wolves would go for. 23 years old, has come from a humble background, got room to grow,
08:33but if Wolves decide to make a move for him, he's going to have to make an impact here and now as
08:38well. And then in a similar sort of vein, similar to the sort of model of players that Wolves tend
08:42to go for in this recruitment strategy, is a player called Nacer Giger. Again, I hope I've
08:49pronounced that right. 22 years old, plays for Serbian side Red Star Belgrade. He joined them
08:56on loan from Basel in 2023, then joined them permanently last summer, and he's been a regular
09:02feature for them. 27 games, no competitions this season, including all eight of Belgrade's
09:06Champions League group games as well this season. He's a Burkina Faso international.
09:14So yeah, those are two names amongst, again, what I expect to be a pretty long list of players that
09:19Wolves will look at between now and 11pm on Monday, and let's hope in both those positions,
09:24they can bring some players in. In terms of those two players, particularly Liam, if one of them
09:29were to come in, what we saw yesterday, I mean, a really good clean sheet. Totti Gomes going back
09:35onto the left-hand side, you know, Agbidu moving across to the central with Dok on the right-hand
09:40side. Do you feel that if either of those players came into the team, that they would be going
09:46straight into the starting line-up, or is it to add added competition? As quickly as they go into
09:51the start of the XI is difficult to say, but I would suspect that this is with a long-term vision
09:57of, unfortunately, maybe Matt Doherty dropping out of the XI. Agbidu either staying central or
10:02going to the right, with Totti on the left, and then the other player fitting in in one of those
10:05other two positions. So, the only thing that sort of counters that is, very early on in Vitor Pereira's
10:11start as head coach, he was pretty bullish in saying he doesn't like to play with three out-and-out
10:18centre-backs, and about three likes to have a full-back in there. So, I do wonder whether
10:22Dok has got an even better chance of keeping his place, and if that is the case, you would expect
10:27this player to come in to add competition, because, clearly, Sanji Bueno has lost his place now,
10:33after the game at the weekend, and it looks unlikely that Craig Dawson is going to get
10:37any minutes from Vitor Pereira.
10:39Well, my very last question to you is, let's say they get a defender in, let's say they get
10:46Brownhill in, or another midfielder in between now and 11 o'clock tomorrow, what does that mean
10:50about the future? So, potentially two guys who are on the outside looking at this moment in time,
10:54and you've got to think would move further down that pecking order, and that's Craig Dawson,
10:58centre-back, and also Tommy Doyle, who, you know, didn't start yesterday, we thought he might do,
11:03but it was John McNabellagard who got the nod in the central midfield, and we all know how well
11:07he did. You bring in another midfielder, I mean, Tommy Doyle's not going to be a happy chappy,
11:11really. So, those two players, is that one for discussion tomorrow, potentially some
11:15late developments there, or is it just a wait-and-see at this moment in time?
11:18It would depend, certainly, on the movement they can do in terms of incomings, but I think it's
11:22definitely one to watch, because we spoke about this earlier in the window, didn't we, on our
11:26podcast that Dawson and Doyle were positions to keep an eye on, or players to keep an eye on,
11:31rather, because both of them want to play, both of them will be desperate to play. The issue is
11:37moving one of them on, or either of them on, doesn't open up a non-homegrown spot. It's only
11:41a homegrown spot that would open up for them, but it does give Wolves manoeuvre to bring players in,
11:47and it would really depend, particularly with Doyle, on the Mina situation. As we say,
11:51if he's more likely to stay now, if Wolves go ahead and bring a midfielder in,
11:55whether that's Brownhill or someone else, Doyle will likely drop further down in that
11:59pecking order. Pereira's made it very clear to him that he doesn't really suit the style he
12:04wants to play, even though I thought he did well off the bench against Villa on Saturday.
12:08So, with that in mind, Doyle will be desperate to go and play, and we know the clubs have looked at
12:12him for a loan this month as well. So, it would be one I would say to keep an eye on between now and
12:1811pm on Monday, because if Wolves can bring players in, there's still a potential to balance
12:22that squad and one or two go out.
