Aberdeen record winless run extended after 2-0 defeat to Hibs at Easter Road
Transcript
00:00Hello, this is Alan Patolo, football writer for the Scotsman at Easter Road in the media
00:08room following a fairly straightforward win for Hibs. We're getting used to saying that
00:15these days after David Gray's side have emerged from a run of poor form earlier in the season
00:27to put together a run of 10 matches without defeat. Hibs 2 Aberdeen 0 here with a goal
00:35from a Nectar Treantis in the first half and one from Nicky Caddon near the start of the
00:42second half from a ball swung in by his twin brother Chris. For those interested in such
00:52things out there is that the first time one twin has passed another twin to score a goal
00:58in Scotland's top flight history. One to perhaps investigate further after this. That's one
01:09side of the story, obviously a positive side for Hibs. What about Aberdeen? Where do they
01:16go next? Well, in the league they go to Dundee, Dense Park, in search of an elusive win. That's
01:23now no wins in 14 league games and they head to Dundee in a couple of weeks' time looking
01:30for a win at a place where historically they have a good record. Jimmy Thielen really needs
01:40a win soon. A fascinating scene at the end of the game here. Him and his Aberdeen players
01:48solemnly applauded the away fans at the end for a long, long time. A very penitent looking
01:55bunch of Aberdeen players. Aberdeen fans, to be absolutely fair to them, a very stoic
02:02lot. They stayed until the end and although I'm sure some of them were giving the players
02:08a bit of their mind, it seemed like some kind of communion was going on. As if Aberdeen
02:18players were trying to draw some energy from these fans and obviously in an attempt to
02:23go again, they have Dunfermline in the Scottish Cup next week. As Jimmy Thielen said here
02:28in this room a few minutes ago, as ever in a cup competition, losing is not an option.
02:35I'm sure it's not for Aberdeen and we'll see what happens next weekend.
02:42Log into Scotsman.com, my report is up there from this game and also my piece on the reaction
02:53from both managers is there as well from David Gray and Jimmy Thielen. I will leave it there
03:01and head off and look forward to next weekend's Scottish Cup weekend and I think I'm off to
03:08Hibsby Air United on Friday night, which I have to say is probably the most appetising
03:14of all the ties.
