00:00While we're here admitting things.
00:01These influencers thought TikTok was going away forever
00:04and revealed that their claims to fame were based on lies.
00:07But now that TikTok is back, their fans are furious
00:10and the influencers are scrambling to save face.
00:13It all started when TikTok was set to be banned for US users on January 19th.
00:17What the heck?
00:18As thousands of users mourned the end of the beloved social media app,
00:22it caused an audio snippet from an episode of Family Guy to go viral.
00:26Users lip-synced a line from the series
00:28while sharing their faux-dramatic, end-of-days-style confessions.
00:32Since we're all gonna die,
00:34there's one more secret I feel I have to share with you.
00:37I did not care for the Godfather.
00:39What?
00:39Did not care for the Godfather.
00:41How can you even say that, Dad?
00:43Didn't like, didn't like it.
00:44But for some reason, many of the platform's biggest influencers,
00:47including those who earned major money from posting on the app,
00:50figured it was time to spill their biggest secrets ahead of TikTok's shutdown.
00:54Beauty influencer Meredith Duxbury became a viral sensation on TikTok
00:58for the, uh, rather unique and controversial way she prefers to apply her foundation.
01:03Her technique involves squirting 10 pumps of foundation directly onto your hands
01:07and then smearing it all over your face.
01:09Meredith's foundation technique was widely considered a scam for fake outrage and views,
01:14but she swore by it,
01:15even challenging other beauty creators to give it a try and share their results.
01:19But when she decided to do the confession trend days before the TikTok shutdown,
01:23she admitted that she was in fact wiping off some of those extra foundation layers.
01:27Another TikTok creator who earned millions of followers is Baby Dumpling,
01:31who gained a huge following for her unbelievable What I Eat In A Day,
01:34vlogs that document the 23-year-old gorging herself on enough food to feed a small army.
01:39She's faced accusations of faking her meals for years,
01:43with commenters speculating she pretends to take bites or spits out food once the camera cuts.
01:48She joined the confession trend to admit that she actually doesn't eat all the food,
01:52but quickly backtracked and posted multiple proof videos to soothe her angry fans.
01:57Charli D'Amelio, one of TikTok's biggest influencers with nearly 160 million followers,
02:02jumped on the confession trend by clearing up a fan-generated rumor.
02:05A scandalous clip of a 16-year-old Charli illegally using a vaporizer went viral a
02:10few years back and caused so much outrage, Charli's fans concocted their own explanation.
02:15Fans began spreading the rumor that Charli was actually using an
02:18anxiety pen, whatever that means.
02:25Most of the TikTok influencer end-of-day's confessions were either lighthearted jokes
02:30or simply revealed the obvious, but a few genuinely rubbed users the wrong way,
02:34especially when the fraud was related to weight loss and body image.
02:37Lexi Hidalgo, an influencer who posts wellness and lifestyle content,
02:41used a trend to admit that she only did about half of the workouts she posted.
02:46Considering that Lexi is a yoga instructor, fans who felt betrayed were quick to unfollow.
02:52Body positivity influencer Serena Kerrigan, who branded herself as the
02:56Queen of Confidence, confessed to using Monjaro, a weight loss injection similar to Ozempic.
03:01Her disappointed fans called Serena out for blatantly lying about not using the
03:05weight loss drug in the past. To market yourself as the Queen of Confidence and
03:09then undergo such a rapid weight loss and not say anything about it is crazy work and
03:14completely undermines your authenticity, wrote one user. So if you're one of the TikTok users
03:19who feels betrayed by the confessions of your favorite influencer, the moral of the story is
03:23this — don't believe those random people on your phone screen.
