Transcript
00:00The black woman in my life that's been the transformative energy in my life is definitely my mom.
00:05My grandma Cindy Mahomes.
00:07My grandmother Flora Evans.
00:08A black woman in my life who has just meant so much to my journey through Chief's Chair is my grandma.
00:15She told me to never back down.
00:17She will always tell me if you want to be the best you got to put the most work in.
00:20My grandma grew up in the segregated South.
00:23She fought for equality.
00:25There's so many things that I wouldn't have today if it weren't for people like her.
00:30My mom really shaped me just watching how she raised me.
00:33My mom never let us know that it was such a struggle and it wasn't until I was an adult that I knew that it was hard.
00:39She passed away a couple years ago but my entire life she was in a wheelchair
00:42but that didn't stop her from being the fiercest, most competitive, loyal person that I've ever been around.
00:47I don't think there's enough flowers that I can give my mama.
00:51There aren't words to express how much I appreciate her and how much she means to me.
00:56I'll talk to my mom, right? That's crazy. Is she gonna see this?
