00:00It 122 to 112. The Knicks get the win over Denver at the
00:04garden. Once again, a little bit of everybody from for the
00:08Knicks. Brunson had a big night. Cat, how about a little defense
00:12from Cat leading to some offense on ESPN.
00:14Not much doing here. Westbrook insists his way and Towns got it
00:20cleanly. What a rejection from Towns. Oh, a highlight! Brunson
00:26to no look and bridges the reverse.
00:31Yeah, listen, all I know is, once again, the thing that I
00:34got out of the game was that afterwards, you know, and I
00:37thought the first half you had Joker sitting down because he
00:39got the two quick fouls early, but then Towns did as well. He
00:43was sitting with three. But after the game, it was hearing
00:47Joker say and legitimately that the Knicks are top five for a
00:51title. And I have gone on record here over and over saying
00:55they're starting five is, you know, too legit to quit. And
01:00it's the bench that I've worried about. Now, if I can get the
01:03type of McBride, Payne, and Shamit productivity from those
01:09shooters, then I'm not going to worry as much because then and
01:14Achua, they're nine deep. I got to get those guys playing ball
01:18though. I think Deuce shows up and plays ball every night. I
01:21think Shamit's a guy I've, you know, we've seen before in New
01:25York. What with the Nets, he was terrible, right? Am I tripping?
01:29No. And then it's the it's the middle guy, Payne. But Payne has
01:33had that crooked J of his for a while. And he makes it. People
01:37can say whatever they want about him. He may he knocks down that
01:40shot. If I can get those four guys playing because I thought
01:43like Achua, he's had his moments. Like I thought he
01:46played pretty well last night overall. But he's inconsistent.
01:50Like some nights he's not there. Some nights he is. They got to
01:53get those four guys off that bench doing something because
01:56they cannot rely on five guys, frankly, to win a title playing
02:01round after round into the, you know, conference finals and into
02:05the NBA finals. It's too brutal. It's too brutal a track in those
02:09series to survive with just five guys playing all the minutes.
02:15Got to be able to space it out a little bit. As you say, I'll do
02:18the Joker first since you brought up the clip of him
02:21after the game. Here he is. Nick's very tough.
02:25This team hurt you guys this year. What makes them so tough?
02:28I think they hurt us last couple years. You know, they're
02:30playing really well. They're well coached. They know what
02:34they're pushing the pace. And even in a half course, they know
02:37what they're doing. So they're really good. They're really good
02:40team. And I think they are the favorite. It's not a favorite,
02:42like top, let's say top five candidates for the title.
02:46Top five. Yeah, you see what I mean? Like, there he is. And
02:52you know that he's, he's already won one. He knows what he's
02:56talking about. They are, you know, we have talked at nauseam
02:59about the East and the West, who are the legitimate contenders
03:03that have a shot to come out of those conferences. And frankly,
03:07the Knicks are still in that mix. And they have been for a
03:09while. They just have to figure out I think they're burn on
03:13on bench.
03:15It's very rare that you can get some smiles or some positivity
03:19out of Tom Thibodeau. But after a win like last night, and the
03:23run that the Knicks have been on, you do get a little bit of
03:26that proud of his team.
03:27Thomas seems like whenever another team goes on a run, you
03:30guys don't really get phased. Where does that come from?
03:33Yeah, I think that you know, and again, we, you know, there's
03:36still, it's a good win. And we don't want to get carried away
03:40with ourselves. We'll enjoy it. But the there's things that we
03:43have to continue to improve upon. I think these are all good
03:46tests for us, because it tells us exactly where we are, and
03:50what we have to work on to get better and not to be satisfied,
03:54and have always have the belief that we could do things better.
03:57And I think this team does. And we have a committed group that's
04:01willing to sacrifice for each other and play for each other.
04:04And when that happens, the good stuff comes from that.
04:09So there you go. I mean, you know, the funny thing is that
04:12they've been playing at a clip lately with this homestand, you
04:15know, what were they 122 last night, the last two before that
04:20they were in the 140s. I mean, they can really score and move
04:24the ball and, you know, watching this guy heart rebound and start
04:29transition, you know, numbers runs up the floor with them on a
04:33three on two or whatever. It's really impressive. I mean, that
04:37guy's six, five, and he rebounds like he's a seven footer. And I
04:41think it's all about that Rodman philosophy of positioning, where
04:46do you stand to wait for the misses? Because, you know, guys
04:51are shooting, you know, 39 3837% from three guys are shooting, you
04:56know, 40 to 44% from two, where do you put your body in the
05:01block to get that many rebounds that he gets? It really is
05:05phenomenal watching a guy that little in this league of bigs of
05:09guys that are six, seven or above getting outworked night
05:13after night by a six five guy is insane to me.
