00:00There's Teddy, Starla, Copper, Mocha, and Scout, the five chocolate labs that were born
00:07a year ago and have been busy, very busy, graduating from Doggy College and all now
00:11certified comfort care creatures.
00:14All were born last January and have spent the last year studying very hard and finally
00:18today a big celebration.
00:20All looked after by the members of the campus police department, their goal to bring peace
00:24and comfort to the Schoolcraft community.
00:27Here's campus police chief Mark Ergstrom.
00:29Police dogs, we think of them typically as narcotics, bomb-sniffing, gun-sniffing dogs,
00:35but instead is simply trained on having good manners and being available to people that
00:41might be maybe the victim of a crime or going through an emotional episode where a dog in
00:48the right setting has an intense calming effect on people.
00:53The goal was to get one of these chocolate labs, but then when president of the college
00:57Dr. Glenn Cerny heard about it, he says, get as many as we can get.
01:01The need is great and look at that.
01:03Just a good old belly rub.
01:04Students love it.
01:05I spoke to one from Peru, an exchange student.
01:06She says when she gets anxious about exam, she comes right to the puppies.
01:10You can follow along with these puppies' progress.
01:12They've got their own social media site on Instagram.
01:15It's at sc underscore pups.
