00:00Good morning, this hearing will come to order.
00:05But during a podcast interview in July of 2023, you said, quote, no vaccine is safe and effective.
00:13In your testimony today, in order to prove you're not anti-vax, you note that all your kids are vaccinated.
00:21But in a podcast in 2020, you said, and I quote,
00:25you would do anything, pay anything to go back in time and not vaccinate your kids.
00:33Mr. Kennedy, all of these things cannot be true.
00:39So are you lying to Congress today when you say you are pro-vaccine?
00:45Or did you lie on all those podcasts?
00:48We have all of this on tape, by the way.
00:51Senator, as you know, because it's been repeatedly debunked,
00:57that statement that I made on the Lex Friedman podcast was a fragment of the statement.
01:02He asked me and anybody who actually goes and looks at that podcast will see this.
01:09He asked me, are there vaccines that are safe and effective?
01:12And I said to him, some of the live virus vaccines are.
01:16And I said there are no vaccines that are safe and effective.
01:20And I was going to continue for every person.
01:23Every medicine has people who are sensitive to them, including vaccines.
01:28So he interrupted me at that point.
01:31I've corrected it many times, including on national TV.
01:35You know about this, Senator Wyden.
01:37So bringing this up right now is dishonest.
01:39Let's be clear about what you've actually done then, since you want to deny your statements.
01:46For example, you have a history of trying to take vaccines away from people.
01:52In May of 2021, you petitioned the Food and Drug Administration
01:57to not only block Americans from having access to the COVID vaccine,
02:02but to prevent any future access to the life-saving vaccine.
02:08Are you denying that? Your name is on the petition.
02:12We brought that petition after CDC recommended a COVID vaccine
02:19without any scientific basis for six-year-old children.
02:25What is so disturbing to me is that out of 330 million Americans,
02:31we're being asked to put somebody in this job who has spent 50 years of his life
02:36not honoring the tradition that he talked about at the beginning of this conversation,
02:41but peddling in half-truths, peddling in false statements,
02:47peddling in theories that create doubt about whether or not things that we know are safe are unsafe.
02:57So I'm asking you yes or no, Mr. Kennedy.
03:01Did you say that COVID-19 was a genetically engineered bioweapon
03:06that targets black and white people but spared Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese people?
03:12I didn't say it was deliberately targeted.
03:15I just quoted an NIH-funded, an NIH-published study.
03:23Did you say that it targets black and white people but spared Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese people?
03:28I quoted a study, Your Honor.
03:30I quoted an NIH study that showed that certain races are disproportionately…
03:34I'll take that as a yes. I have to move on.
03:36Did you say that Lyme disease is highly likely a materially engineered bioweapon?
03:44I made sure I put in the highly likely.
03:47Did you say Lyme disease is a highly likely militarily engineered bioweapon?
03:53I probably did say that.
03:56I want all of our colleagues to hear it, Mr. Kennedy.
04:00I want them to hear it. You said yes.
04:02Did you say that exposure to pesticides causes children to become transgender?
04:08No, I never said that.
04:10Okay, I have the record that I'll give to the chairman and he can make his judgment about what you said.
04:15Did you write in your book, and it's undeniable,
04:20that African AIDS is an entirely different disease from Western AIDS?
04:26Yes or no, Mr. Kennedy?
04:28I'm not sure if I…
04:30Okay, I'll give it to the chairman, Mr. Kennedy, and my final question.
04:34Did you say on a podcast, and I quote,
04:37I wouldn't leave it, abortion, to the states.
04:41My belief is we should leave it to the woman.
04:44We shouldn't have the government involved even if it's full term.
04:48Did you say that, Mr. Kennedy?
04:50Senator, I believe that every abortion is a tragedy.
04:53Did you say it, Mr. Kennedy?
04:55This matters. It doesn't matter what you come here and say that isn't true,
05:01that's not reflective of what you really believe,
05:04that you haven't said over decade after decade after decade,
05:07because unlike other jobs we're confirming around this place,
05:10this is a job where it is life and death.
05:14Did you say it, Mr. Kennedy?
05:16I believe…
05:17This matters. It doesn't matter what you come here and say that isn't true,
05:22that's not reflective of what you really believe,
05:25that you haven't said over decade after decade after decade,
05:28because unlike other jobs we're confirming around this place,
05:31this is a job where it is life and death.
