00:06Donald Trump considers drastic cuts to U.S. foreign aid.
00:11Last week, Trump paused 90 days of development assistance from the U.S. agency International
00:15Development to evaluate its alignment with his America First policy, raising concerns
00:20among global aid groups that rely on U.S. funding.
00:23Humanitarian organizations and U.N. agencies warned it could face severe restrictions on
00:28providing food, shelter and health care if the freeze becomes permanent.
00:33The U.S. is the largest contributor to humanitarian aid, providing $13.9 billion in 2024, which
00:40makes up 42% of all aid tracked by the U.N.
00:44Meantime, health care centers along the Thai-Myanmar border, which serves tens of thousands of
00:48refugees, have been ordered to close after U.S. President Trump froze most foreign aid
00:54last week.
00:55This results in Thai officials transporting the most critically ill patients to other
00:59facilities.
