Once a thriving hub of craftsmanship, the Leather Tannery part of Leather School since 1937 at Government Polytechnic College, Bandra stood as a one-of-its-kind learning space where students honed their skills in leather crafting, processing, and innovation. This unique facility provided hands-on exposure to transforming rawhide into refined leather—teaching students the art of tanning, treating, and designing.  Now demolished, or sent for redevelopment as they say. The hopes to get the space back for the same purpose is left loose. 01:59Internationally, there is a lot of demand for Leather.

02:26If the government had paid attention, the number of Leather Working Schools would not have decreased.

02:31Generation to generation, this is a craft work.

02:44They just do Karagiri.

02:47They cannot make a big business.

02:49They have never been taught about manufacturing management and management study.
