The First Dean • 1995

The Church of the Resurrection of Christ located in the Moscow district Sokolniki is one of the most remarkable churches in Moscow. Built a few years before the revolution, it has a history that reflects the fate of the Russian Orthodox Church in the 20th century. Its walls remember the First World War and two revolutions, the confiscation of church treasures and the restoration of the patriarchate. The film features the builder and first dean of the church of Resurrection, father Johann Kedrov who was persecuted and exiled under the Soviet regime. The parishioners of the church will always remember this man.
In 1996, the film "The First Dean" was released on video cassettes as part of the film almanac for the 850th anniversary of Moscow.

Храм Воскресения Христова в Сокольниках, построенный за несколько лет до революции, один из самых замечательных в Москве. Его история – это отражение судеб Русской Православной Церкви в ХХ веке. Стены этого храма помнят первую мировую войну и две революции, изъятие церковных ценностей и восстановление патриаршества. Большое внимание в фильме уделено строителю и первому настоятелю Воскресенского храма – отцу Иоанну Кедрову, претерпевшему от советской власти и гонения, и ссылку. Память о нем прихожане храма хранят до сих пор.
В 1996 году киновидеообъединением «Крупный план» фильм «Первый настоятель» выпущен на видеокассетах в составе киноальманаха к 850-летию Москвы.
