00:06that prohibits the use of a speed limiter on some vehicles.
00:09Under the Road Speed Limiter Act of 2016,
00:13it is mandatory to install a speed limiting device on passenger buses and trucks
00:18so that the maximum speed is only up to 90 kmph.
00:22It is possible for vehicles to get stuck.
00:25This is one of the issues discussed by the Senate yesterday
00:29in the Senate Committee on Public Services
00:32to stop or reduce road accidents.
00:36The DOTR will conduct consultations with stakeholders regarding the speed limiter.
00:42According to the Senate report published by GMA Integrated News Research,
00:46the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the law were issued in 2018
00:50but it was not implemented immediately.
00:52Aside from the lack of speed limiters in the country,
00:55there are still no guidelines and national standards
00:57on the accreditation of the aforementioned devices.
