Wales is the land of song, so why wouldn’t someone with a voice like Gareth Gates want to be here in Wales, and he’s definitely thankful he’s found out that he’s got a bit of Welsh blood in him, because we all know that’s where his voice came from. He was a star back in the noughties, and it’s good to see him still smashing it 20 years later.

00:05city, and he says he's incredibly thankful to be back.
00:08Yeah, I love being back in Cardiff. I've spent lots of time here over the years. I've done
00:15lots of shows in this very theatre, the new theatre. Shows like Legally Blonde, Footloose.
00:21I did Pantober back in 2021. And I'm back here with a brand new show I'm producing now,
00:29called Gareth Gates Sings Love Songs From The Movies.
00:33It's always nice to find out you've got some Welsh in you, which is exactly what happened
00:36to Gareth recently. And he says that Wales is one of the best places to bring shows to
00:41because the crowds absolutely love a good old sing song.
00:44Well, I actually found out recently I'm an eighth Welsh. So maybe that's where my voice
00:50comes from. But yeah, this show that I'm bringing is just packed with big, big songs from movies
00:57like Titanic, Star Is Born, Dirty Dancing Pretty Woman, Michael, Armageddon, to name
01:05a few. And to be singing them in front of a Welsh crowd. Every time I perform in Wales
01:11and you ask the audience to sing, the voices that come back are just incredible. So I'm
01:16really looking forward to that.
01:19His new tour is visiting a few smaller venues that don't always get the biggest shows. So
01:23Gareth says he's proud to be bringing his show to places in Wales outside of the major
01:27cities.
01:28Yeah, when I was putting together the tallest and speaking to venues, you know, it is good
01:35to do the bigger venues like this one, New Theatre, you know, but it is great to go to
01:42the smaller venues. The audience is really, really appreciating more. And it's not often
01:48that they get big shows in those kind of smaller theatres. And, you know, they're just equally
01:55as enjoyable as doing the bigger ones.
