With award season now in full swing, we’ve had a look at some of the Mancs to have made their mark in Hollywood.

00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. Now, with the world of entertainment firmly building up
00:04towards the Oscars, the purpose of this video is to have a look at some of the successful mancs
00:08to either win or win a nomination for an Academy Award. Let's start with Danny Boyle, a trailblazing
00:13director from Radcliffe, who's had films nominated for a combined 19 Academy Awards, with eight wins,
00:18all for Slumdog Millionaire. Starting his career with Shallow Grave, trainspotting really got
00:23Boyle's name out there, with the success of The Beach, 28 Days Later, and Slumdog Millionaire
00:27only enhancing his reputation. His most recent nominated film was Steve Jobs, back in 2015.
00:32MacKinnon and Saunders are up next, an animation and puppet studio based in Altrincham, which can
00:37name some of the world's most famous and prolific directors among their customers. The reason they
00:41make this list is due to Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio winning the Oscar for Best Animated
00:45Feature in the last two years, while they've also created puppets for Mars Attacks, Corpse Bride,
00:50and much more. There are many more names that could be mentioned, but our final featured star
00:53is Robert Donut, who won the award for Best Actor for his performance under the direction
00:57of Alfred Hitchcock in Goodbye Mr. Chips.
