00:00OJ Simpson's estate is going up against OJ Simpson's son in court
00:06And they're essentially accusing him of squatting
00:10Justin Simpson who is one of the two kids that OJ had with Nicole Brown Simpson
00:16Justin has moved into the Nevada home where his father had been living before he died and
00:21Won't move out according to the estate. So why do they want him to move out because they say that home
00:29Belongs to the estate and essentially I think the estate wants to sell it because they've been trying to
00:35One pay the heirs and to pay off his debts which are into the millions and millions of dollars
00:41So they want the house, but Justin won't leave according to the estate
00:47So now they've got to take him to court to try and get him kicked out of this
00:51it is a I mean, I would say in the course of OJ Simpson's life and all of the
00:57Horrible and wild and crazy things that have happened
01:00This just seems to fit the bill right that right dies his son ends up fighting the estate
01:05Yeah, and there's actually an interesting wrinkle to all of this because Justin controls an entity that is called primary holdings LLC
01:12It's actually just a separate company that owned that house that OJ lived in now according to this lawsuit
01:18OJ paid the mortgage OJ paid for all the improvements
01:21But it was actually owned in title by this LLC that Justin runs and that would be maybe
01:25Outside of the probate estate that the lawyer manages so from Justin's perspective. He's saying this isn't even owned by my dad
01:32This is owned by this company that I manage
01:34So there's no reason for me to give it over to the estate to split up amongst the heirs and the creditors
01:38He sort of has a point. Well, the reason that it was ever
01:42Given to or purchased by this company primary holdings that Justin runs was to shield OJ from creditors, right? So
01:51I like you you use the system to
01:55game it right you game the system so you so the creditors couldn't go after your house and
02:00This is sort of the consequence of that now you have your son going. No, it's in my name. You're right
02:06It's a little bit what's good for the goose is good for the gander
02:08They put it out in this entity that's technically outside of his estate now what the lawyer is gonna try to do
02:13Malcolm Verne's a good lawyer. He's gonna try to say yeah, but the reality here is that OJ was paying for everything
02:18They call this piercing the corporate veil say say ignore that. This is in a company
02:22It's really OJ's property because he was the one managing it. We'll see if that's successful
02:26It's really an uphill battle in court and never does any of this money go to the Goldman family, right?
02:30Well, I think Malcolm Laverne the estate the executor would say that's why we want the house
02:36And that's why he's been trying to sell off gather as many assets as possible to sell off
02:40He says he wants to pay the Goldman's at thirty three million dollar judge whether it ever happened
02:46Johnny Benita is Brooklyn, New York
02:48First of all, this story is like super relatable, right?
02:51Because how many of us have a friend or a family member that we know that we're fighting in court?
02:55We're relatives to try to get some possession of a house of somebody that passed away
02:59But in reference to the Sun, it seems like we really will just have to wait and see
03:04This seems like maybe a legal loophole that he might have successfully been able to pull off
03:08But there's no telling what happens just yet, but it would be exciting to see if he gets it
03:12I don't think anybody's trying to give a break
03:14Legally go to the Simpson family after all once he got found civilly liable
03:18He's been trying to do like I said kind of hide situation for a while now. So if it works, it works
03:24I don't know if I think it will
03:25Necessarily because who is trying to give a break to the Simpson family even with what happened in Vegas
03:30It seems like legally nobody's really gonna be trying that but we'll just have to wait and see
