00:00It was so busy, but one of the customers went,
00:02that's so Sophie Tiart.
00:04And we were like, oh my god, yes, it actually is Sophie Tiart.
00:08And then she was like, surprise!
00:11I need to find a good item, though.
00:13What do you need?
00:13I just want the most valuable thing as possible.
00:18Usually, this artist's work sells for thousands.
00:20But on Friday, she sold this painted horse
00:23for just £12 in a local Margate charity shop.
00:26A horse in the window is kind of a vibe.
00:28It's got my name on it.
00:29All right, cool.
00:30Nay.
00:31Yay!
00:32See you later!
00:32She said, right, so what I'm going to do
00:34is I'm going to go buy this horse.
00:35I've got two hours.
00:36The Margate School of Art have let us have the room,
00:39so she can go down there and decorate it.
00:41What I'll do is I'll then bring it back.
00:42I'll post all over my social media
00:44that I'm going to be here.
00:46You post as many people as you can get into the shop.
00:49And then at quarter past three, she'd come up,
00:52and there was just loads of people in the shop.
00:54This is Sophie T, a well-known artist on social media
00:57and across the UK.
00:59Every Friday, she surprise visits a charity shop
01:01to buy a random item to paint.
01:03Thank you so much for coming.
01:04Hi!
01:05OK, I've made a biscuit jar,
01:07and I put some bourbons in it, so...
01:09I drove all the way from Cambridge, 45 minutes.
01:11My baby's asleep in the car.
01:13Oh my God, go and get your baby!
01:14My son's in there, my son's in there.
01:16I haven't left her.
01:17Can I just get a quick picture?
01:18Sorry for everyone.
01:20Lovely to meet you.
01:21But this initiative is more than just an art project,
01:24as the owners of Pilgrim's Hospice in Margate found out.
01:27This charity does amazing, amazing work for the South East.
01:32It really does do amazing work.
01:34And the extra bit of money this brings to us
01:36is only a positive, absolutely positive.
01:39If anything, if it's brought the charity to the forefront
01:42and made people in Kent and all across the country think,
01:46yeah, there's this local hospice shop in Margate,
01:48you know, this artist has been down there,
01:50and let's go and see what this is about.
01:52If it gets that extra penny for the charity,
01:55then so be it.
01:56But this is what it's all about.
01:58We are going to actually smash it this year
01:59with that new influence coming in.
02:03On Friday, the shop had a 30% boost in ceramic seals,
02:06lots of new customers,
02:08and with 22,000 likes on Sophie's post,
02:11the Pilgrim's Hospice team are looking forward
02:13to what they can do with the money for people here in Kent.
02:16Whether or not she'll come back to Kent to do this again
02:19is unknown, so best to keep a lookout.
