00:00Do you play well? Do you play the shoulders down?
00:04No, no, no. I'm not good, I swear.
00:06Your pre-match routine has become pretty famous,
00:08like spraying water from your mouth.
00:10Triple 8. He was my favourite wrestler.
00:12I was going into the ring when I was playing football,
00:14so it's just become an omen.
00:16I've carried it on ever since.
00:18I'm getting in trouble.
00:20I knew that. I knew that.
00:24Why did you choose number 32?
00:26Because of David Beckham and him being just an icon.
00:30Oh my God.
00:46Karl-Andrew Walker, welcome to AC Milan.
00:48How does it feel to be an AC Milan player?
00:50It's great.
00:52It's something that, you know, as a young kid
00:54I've always watched AC,
00:56and to actually put on the famous colours,
00:58I'm very proud and hopefully
01:00it can be a good end of the season.
01:02Your first interview as a Rosso Nero player
01:04will be a little bit particular
01:06because right now we're going to play table football.
01:08I don't know if you're good at table football,
01:10but if I score,
01:12I will ask you an off-the-pitch question.
01:14If you manage to score,
01:16I will ask you an on-the-pitch question.
01:18I know it's hard to beat you in one-on-one.
01:20I know this is a famous question around the world,
01:22so I'm going to try that,
01:24but let's see what happens.
01:26OK, let's go.
01:28You ready?
01:40I've scored my own goal.
01:42Let's start with a particular one.
01:44You've learned a lot throughout your career
01:46and you've decided to create and open
01:48your own academy.
01:50Can you tell us more about this project?
01:52Well, from where I'm from in Sheffield,
01:54there's little opportunity
01:56and I feel that there is a lot of kids
01:58that are on the streets
02:00or don't have a chance to go
02:02and make it as a footballer.
02:04I was one of them and it became
02:06very lucky that I did become a footballer,
02:08so it was about giving back to the city,
02:10back to the city of where I'm from,
02:12and hopefully if I can help one person
02:14achieve their dream, then that was the main goal in it.
02:20Do you play well?
02:22I swear, I'm not good.
02:24OK, this is a nice one.
02:26Your pre-match routine
02:28has become pretty famous,
02:30like spraying water from your mouth.
02:32Where does this habit come from?
02:34I did it when I was a kid,
02:36playing for Sheffield United again.
02:38I used to watch a lot of wrestling,
02:40so Triple H, he was my favourite wrestler.
02:42He decided to do that
02:44before every time he went into the ring,
02:46so I was going into the ring
02:48when I was playing football,
02:50so it's become an omen
02:52and I've carried it on ever since.
03:02On the pitch question,
03:04how have you changed throughout the years?
03:06You've been saying that when you played for Tottenham
03:08you weighed five kilos less compared to now,
03:10and right now you've recently started
03:12to do weight training in the gym.
03:14What kind of impact did it have
03:16on the way you play?
03:18I just felt that
03:20the modern-day football now,
03:22with the wingers that I come up against,
03:24it wasn't just about
03:26what I was gifted with genetically.
03:28I feel that if I can add something in the gym
03:30that makes me stronger, quicker
03:32and more durable,
03:34then that's why I decided to do that.
03:36Obviously I've been very blessed
03:38by my mum and dad giving me these genetics,
03:40but you can always add,
03:42and I feel that I'm still hungry to win things,
03:44still hungry to play football,
03:46still hungry to win football.
03:54No way!
03:562-2 and bringing it back.
03:58Another own goal.
04:00So have you already spoken with someone
04:02who had the chance to wear the AC Milan jersey
04:04or is actually wearing it?
04:06And if yes, what have they told you about the club?
04:08No, I reached out to Tammy
04:10asking what the city was like,
04:12what it's actually like to play for AC Milan.
04:14You have the outside perception
04:16of looking in, of it being a massive club
04:18and the players that have played for it,
04:20Kaká, Ronaldinho, David Beckham,
04:22these types of players, Maldini,
04:24these are players that I look up to
04:26and just to be a part of that,
04:28he said that you have to come,
04:30you have to experience this city
04:32and that's kind of what made my decision.
04:36No way!
04:38Another own goal.
04:40If you look back when it all started
04:42and look at yourself in the mirror now,
04:44anybody's got his dreams of course,
04:46but do you feel you've gone beyond them or not?
04:50One million percent I think I've probably gone beyond them.
04:52To play for my boyhood club,
04:54Sheffield United, was my dream.
04:56To do that at the age of 18,
04:58I did that.
05:00To then obviously have some fantastic years at Tottenham
05:02but not really achieving or winning
05:04the things that we should have won.
05:06To then go to Manchester City and win
05:0817 trophies in the last seven years
05:10has been out of this world.
05:12Especially the big one,
05:14which was the Champions League,
05:16which we finally managed to do
05:18within a treble season was fantastic.
05:20So over the last seven years
05:22has been more than enough.
05:24But my full career
05:26of just being able to play football,
05:28being able to do the job that I love,
05:30it's been a dream come true.
05:36No way!
05:38Left back scored.
05:42You were born on May 28th in 1919 in Sheffield
05:44and May 28th
05:46is a significant day for AC Milan
05:48as the club claimed on that day in 2003
05:50its sixth UEFA Champions League
05:52title in Manchester.
05:54Can we say it was kind of destiny you would have joined our club?
05:56I think now looking back
05:58it might have been.
06:00Obviously it's an important day for myself
06:02but an important day for this great club.
06:04So hopefully there's more
06:06Champions League finals to come
06:08and we can create more history.
06:10What do you expect from the AC Milan fans?
06:12From the stadium, from the crowd?
06:14I've seen the YouTube videos,
06:16the TikTok videos.
06:18The fans here are incredible.
06:20They show great passion.
06:22They live for football here
06:24and that was a massive choice
06:26for me coming here.
06:28I still want to feel the passion of football.
06:30It's something that we all love
06:32whether it's the players or the fans.
06:34So for them to obviously sing
06:36as they do, chant as they do
06:38and support us through home and away
06:40it means the world and we need to continue
06:42because it's a big push
06:44until the end of the season now to finish strongly.
06:46I see that you've chosen
06:48number 32.
06:50You know that number 32 has been worn
06:52by such an important English player
06:54in AC Milan's history
06:56like David Beckham.
06:58Why did you choose number 32?
07:00First and foremost, obviously
07:02because of David Beckham.
07:04I've seen that that number was available
07:06and being English
07:08and him being just an icon
07:10for our country, I hope he doesn't mind
07:12but I wanted
07:14to wear 32 but also
07:16it resembles the number 2 shirt
07:18that I've worn throughout my career
07:20so to have that on the end
07:22it means a lot.
07:24What's the score? Did I get one for this one?
07:26Are you sure?
07:28Yeah, we have time to get it.
07:32Oh!
07:34Your condition is growing.
07:36Yeah, I'm getting the hang of it now.
07:38I think I was a bit nervous before, you know, with the people.
07:40You felt pressure?
07:42You'll be back playing at the San Siro
07:44and the last time you've been there
07:46smiling, I don't know why
07:48you have also played as a goalkeeper.
07:50Can you relive that moment with us?
07:52It was a different
07:54experience but
07:56it was between me and John.
07:58So the manager, me and John are always
08:00the goalkeepers a lot of stick when they don't save the balls
08:02so the manager kind of
08:04put us to the test
08:06and he picked me to go in net. Would I want to do it again?
08:08Probably not.
08:10It was very scary but
08:12it was an important role that I had to play
08:14for the team to get them over the line
08:16in the Champions League and I managed to
08:18save that free kick and
08:20I don't really have a meme or anything now.
08:22In training time you like to put pressure
08:24on the goalkeepers.
08:26What's behind this attitude and habit you have?
08:28As a defender and as a goalkeeper
08:30you need to have a good relationship.
08:32I feel you have to have relationships all across the pitch
08:34but we're the last line of
08:36defence and it's
08:38about pushing them. I want to push
08:40the teammates, I want to push myself
08:42to become better players
08:44and we need to make sure
08:46throughout all the team that we rely on each other.
08:48Good friendly banter as we call it
08:50in England is always good
08:52and it makes sure that
08:54each and every day at training you're giving
08:56110% and that then replicates
08:58into the matches.
09:08If you only had one chance to say
09:10thank you to somebody,
09:12which person would you choose in your life?
09:14I would say my grandad that passed away.
09:16If I could
09:18or if he could have seen me achieve
09:20what I have achieved. He was the one that first took me
09:22to the Sheffield United matches.
09:24He was the one that got me into football, paid for my season
09:26ticket so it would just be
09:28thank you for him to
09:30for me to get the opportunity to watch
09:32my boy hook up.
09:38You're going to let me win this aren't you?
09:42We knew that you played as a striker
09:44when you were a child, right?
09:46How did you progressively develop your transformation
09:48becoming a right full-back and thanks to who?
09:50It was a coach at Sheffield United
09:52called Sam Safe
09:54that I wasn't playing as a centre-forward
09:56I was a very late developer
09:58I was very small but quick
10:00and people were pushing me off the ball
10:02the defenders were a lot bigger
10:04so our right back got injured
10:06and he said
10:08do I fancy playing there? I was quick
10:10I could defend well because I played a lot of
10:12street football, one-on-ones
10:14and stuff like that and I played there
10:16played really well. Two months later
10:18I'm in the first team so
10:20it kind of was a
10:22a coincidence
10:24obviously someone got injured and I had to play there
10:26but it seemed to fit me really well
10:28and I enjoyed it. I like the challenge
10:30of going one-on-one against people
10:32and putting myself to the test.
10:38I'm racing mate!
10:44Who was your idol when you were a child and do you also have an idol
10:46besides football?
10:48Premier League. Danny Alves
10:50apart from that was
10:52someone that I looked up to
10:54Philippe Blom, I've said it in interviews
10:56before, if you could merge them two
10:58players together I think you've got the
11:00complete right back. But I think
11:02now I try and
11:04make sure that I can
11:06adapt to my qualities
11:08the things that I've got, the things that I can improve on
11:10and just make sure that I'm the best version of myself
11:12all I can do is give 110%
11:14when I get onto the pitch
11:16As you said before, I've achieved a lot in the game
11:18and hopefully one day
11:20people do look up to me and say I wanted to be like him
11:22The winner takes it all
11:24Ok, I don't mind that
11:38Do you feel the pressure guys?
11:47Ok, we're done
11:49I wanted another question from you
11:51You've noticed many tattoos
11:53which are the ones you love the most and
11:55consider more important than others?
11:57I'd probably say the ones on my left leg
11:59because it's a journey of my football
12:01you know, it's a journey of the clubs that I've played for
12:03I've got the Tottenham tattoo
12:05Sheffield United
12:07Man City
12:09now there's going to have to be an AC Milan
12:11one there
12:13I think that just shows the journey of my football
12:16and what I've achieved
12:18in the job that I love
12:20We want to be with you when you tattoo the AC Milan logo
12:22You can video it
12:24As soon as possible
12:26So Kyle, I know it was hard to beat you
12:28on one versus one
12:30but I did it, I hope you don't mind that
12:32No, no, it's fine
12:34I wanted to welcome you well
12:36I hope you get way more successes
12:38on the pitch
12:40I'm so excited to put this jersey on
12:42I'm so excited to play in this fantastic stadium
12:44and hopefully we can finish the season good
12:46obviously the Champions League is going really well
12:48the league, I think we all know
12:50could be a little bit better
12:52but that's important
12:54with my experience, hopefully I can bring that to some of the younger players
12:56and play with passion
12:58I think that's what we need to show
13:00and I think that's what the fans deserve
13:02Bernard, I'm going to thank you for your time
13:04Thank you very much
13:06Forza Milan!
