00:00SELANGOR MASTERS
00:07After the success of the 2025 Selangor Masters,
00:11in addition to being a competitive medium for professional players,
00:16what is more interesting is the increase in the number of amateur players in this edition.
00:20Of the 144 players who played in the Selangor Masters,
00:2311 of them are amateur players who are eligible for merit or on the draw ticket.
00:29The opportunity to compete with world-class players
00:32actually gives a positive domino effect for Afam Osman,
00:35Aydan K. Ahmad Shahruddin,
00:37Daishi Hayashi,
00:38and Mohamed Haris Mohamed Hazry.
00:40Among those who stole the show was Afam Osman,
00:42who represented the MGA,
00:43even though he fought with time to prepare
00:47after returning from a recruitment campaign for young players in the US.
00:51Afam, who is 14 years old, is an expert in country development
00:54and is one of the youngest players to play in this edition of the Selangor Masters.
01:03I think I'm lucky because I can play with professional pro players in Malaysia and abroad.
01:10I can also learn a little bit in terms of cost management,
01:14what they do, training and everything.
01:17And I think this tournament is one of the biggest tournaments in Malaysia,
01:21ADT, Asian Tour.
01:22I think it's important because for my experience,
01:25in the future, I can do my best in this tournament.
01:30For me, in terms of NGDP,
01:32I'm not the best player, I think.
01:36For me, NGDP is very important
01:38because in terms of training and everything,
01:45there are pro players,
01:47and they organize camps and tournaments for young players
01:53to give them the best.
01:55I'm from the US.
01:56In the US,
01:58during the US World Cup,
02:02I played as a representative of Malaysia.
02:05I got second place.
02:07The cost there is quite difficult
02:10because of the wind and everything.
02:12In terms of cost and a lot of water.
02:16It's difficult to manage.
02:20And the government of Selangor
02:23to continue its fight for the status of Asian Development Tour
02:27in the future
02:28is welcomed by ADT.
02:30Selangor Masters is one of the fights
02:32that has a relationship with ADT
02:35and has succeeded in making a big impact
02:37in the 14th international tournament.
02:39If the desire becomes a reality,
02:41it will mean more international tournaments
02:43will be held in Selangor
02:45as well as the development of the golf ecosystem.
02:48Despite the desire to reach an agreement
02:50with the golf owners
02:52who are mostly owned by private companies,
02:54Selangor remains optimistic
02:56to implement the agreement
02:58and promote more elite competitions.
03:05I think Malaysian golf is in a good place.
03:07The local talent is emerging.
03:12I would now say you've somewhat got
03:14three generations of golfers that are playing.
03:18The veterans have set the bar high
03:20with the likes of Danny Cha and such.
03:23Then you've got that new generation of golfers
03:25that are already touring with the development tour,
03:27with the Asian tour,
03:29or with the local tour.
03:31But you've also got that new range of talent
03:34that's coming up.
03:36We had 11 amateurs this week.
03:38Four made the cut.
03:40Three of those amateurs that made the cut
03:42are Malaysians.
03:44So for them to be playing
03:46at the level that they're playing
03:48in an international tournament,
03:50I think they're doing really well.
03:51So it's looking positive.
03:53We're always looking for partners
03:55to do more events in Malaysia.
03:58Obviously, the Asian tour
04:00is based in Singapore and in Malaysia.
04:02So we're keen to have more events here.
04:06We've got fantastic golf courses.
04:08And again, everyone loves coming to Malaysia
04:10because of the hospitality.
04:13So if you're interested in having a golf tournament,
04:15do contact us.
