00:00G'day guys, Jay Allen here, I'm the CEO of the Australian Skin Cancer Foundation, we've
00:04got this mobile skin check unit here at Rilla Beach today and tomorrow, come down and get
00:10your skin checked for free, it's a great partnership with NSW Surf Life Saving, Mole Map Australia
00:16and Chris O'Brien Life House and we want to try and save your life.
00:19It's a free service, we know there's a long wait to get into some of the clinics around
00:23here and we're finding the lesions on people that would never have gone for a skin check
00:29and they're only coming in because it's convenient and it's right at their doorstep here so come
00:34on down, we'll be here today till 4 o'clock and tomorrow till 3 o'clock so we'll see you there.
00:39Hi, I'm Bianca, I'm from Mole Map and we've partnered with the Australian Skin Cancer
00:44Foundation today, we're here doing express skin checks today, have you ever had skin
00:49checks before? No, well I'm here to give you a bit of a look over, so we're looking at
00:53your skin and we'll let you know if there's anything that we need to look at, any concerns
00:58about what the next steps are? These are absolutely fine, they're very nice and normal.
01:06Alright, so definitely a formal skin check every year for that amount of time, alright
01:13so you've got quite a bit of sun damage to your nose there already and it is a really
01:17important area of cancer so you can develop skin cancer like melanoma and that will probably
01:23be a useful way, if you're looking a bit dark, a bit odd shaped, be regular, otherwise
01:29there are non-melanoma skin cancers like basal cells from a cell carcinoma and they become
01:34more common after the age of 4, so it is really important to start with after 4 years, so
01:39definitely, definitely, thank you. Thank you.
01:43Hi, my name's Chad, I came down just to check my skin, make sure I'm alright, make sure
01:48I don't have skin cancer, be careful.
01:59Hey, my name's Lincoln Hay, I'm down from Lennox Head here at the country championships,
02:04always on the water, spent my whole life on the water, never really done much to the sun
02:08cream, I said last year, I'd come back this year and get a skin check, I made the time
02:13today and they found an atypical on the centre of my back, without these guys here I would
02:18never have known, so I'm super grateful to the team here at Australian Cancer Foundation,
02:23being here for free, make it really easy for us, as I said, without them I wouldn't have
02:27known that I've got a really serious atypical on the centre of my back, so I've got a ruler
02:31here and I'm going to keep an eye on it like a hawk, nothing to freak out about but only
02:36because I'm early, so without these guys it could have been something to really worry
02:39about, so I'm super grateful, stoked I'm on top of it but a little bit rattled but
02:43that's why we're here and that's why these guys are here, so all in all it's a good result
02:47going home safe, so thanks for being here.
