00:00In October last year, this brewery in Bondi was targeted in an arson attack.
00:08Guy Finnegan has admitted to starting the fire, but it's now become apparent he and
00:12his accomplice had the wrong place.
00:15They claim they were acting on orders from someone else.
00:18We don't know who the principals are.
00:21It is, can't rule out that they're only domestic or that they might be international.
00:26According to court documents, Finnegan told police he owed drug money and following threats
00:31to his life and family, he was given the ultimatum to set the venue on fire.
00:36But he hasn't told them who put him up to it.
00:39His co-accused, Craig Bantoft, also pleaded guilty.
00:43Court documents revealed messages sent between the pair after the incident.
00:47Bantoft allegedly wrote,
00:49I'm starting to think he sent us to the wrong place.
00:52Is he paying or nah?
00:54It's quite possible that it's Airtasker for criminals.
00:58The commissioner was referring to an online platform which allows people to outsource
01:02all kinds of jobs.
01:04Police don't suspect Airtasker or any other site has been used in these crimes, but they
01:09do believe someone has been outsourcing the attacks.
01:13A second man has been arrested over an attempt to set fire to a synagogue in Newtown earlier
01:18this month.
01:20Bantoft swooped on a hotel in Pyrmont around 1pm where they tasered the 37-year-old man
01:25before taking him into custody.
01:2833-year-old Adam Mule was arrested over the same attack yesterday.
01:33Several swastikas were also spray-painted along the front fence of the Newtown synagogue
01:37on January 11.
01:39Ten people have now been arrested over the attacks in Sydney, including the 21-year-old
01:44son of former bikey boss Mick Howie, who was murdered outside his gym seven years ago.
01:51Two hundred and fifty kilometres away, police in Orange are searching for those responsible
01:56for scrawling Nazi symbols on a promotional billboard for federal nationals candidate
02:01Sam Faraway, who is not Jewish.
02:03This week, all state police commissioners met to discuss the rise in anti-Semitism and
02:08agreed to establish a dedicated coordination group to tackle the issue together.
