00:00Coming to the star cast you chose, before I get into how it was working with each

00:05one of them, was there ever a sense of okay I'm gonna enlist such bigwigs in

00:11the industry, be it Akshay Kumar, be it Mr. Mohanlal. I always had my wish list.

00:16Yes, I mean did you at any point feel, am I going to get overshadowed? I mean because

00:22there's two narratives here, I'll be very honest. One is no matter how small the

00:26pie, let me own majority of it. The other narrative is, I will focus on making the

00:31pie much larger than me, irrespective of how minuscule my role in that is, right.

00:36While I understand that the movie is about Kannapa, the role that you're

00:39playing, it is all going to be about Kannapa. In marketing and when it

00:44reaches the audience, there is a sense of you know, this was a question that

00:47multi-star movies always had, that is there going to be any clash amongst fans

00:52or who's going to overshadow whom. Was that ever a thing in your head?

00:55See, most of the actors who I cast in the movie are much, much, much bigger actors

00:59than me and legendary actors. For me it is like, how did I act on

01:05par on next to them? Did they overshadow me or did I overshadow them?

01:10Did my character actually stand out while performing with them? That is

01:14something the audience will have to tell. But as for casting them, I don't have an

01:20inferiority complex. Even if I had to do one scene in a movie against some of the

01:24biggest names, I'm very confident that I would give my hundred percent and as an

01:30actor nobody can point out that I did a subpar performance. That is

01:34something I'm very confident about. I'm confident about my skill and while

01:39casting these people, I wanted larger-than-life people to be there

01:42because that is when, if I'm bowing down to Lord Shiva, the minute I announce

01:47Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva, now your anticipation is like, how will he look?

01:51Yesterday we launched the look. It's been accepted amazingly. So these

01:56things are things which I put and I wanted to cast father in a certain role

02:00because I knew that if an arrogant sage like Vishwamitra is there, the first

02:05person who would do justice for that character is my father. And if I

02:10wanted Prabhas to play a certain role, I knew that only if he played the stature

02:14of the character would grow more. Okay, so that is why we had to, you know, I had a

02:20wish list and thankfully Lord Shiva, you know, made sure I had that wish list and

02:25for who had to play Lord Shiva, Lord Shiva had to give permission and I think

02:31the permission was given to Mr. Akshay Kumar. So there is a sense lately, right?

02:36There were, I mean, media is media at the end of the day. I belong to the organization

02:40but there is a sense of, again you've already minusculed or rather belittled

02:46the debate about North versus South. Well, let's bring it back for a second to

02:50the sense of onboarding national actors for the sake of marketing. That's the

02:56narrative that a lot of critiques have come out with, right? Because maybe they

02:59shoot for four days but carry on marketing for 30-40 days etc. Each of the

03:04characters that you've chosen, did you choose them because they're the right

03:08fit for that character or was there a marketing angle behind the end? Both.

03:13I will not shy away from being dishonest. It was both. Now if I'm

03:17going to approach Mr. Akshay Kumar and bring it here, he's going to

03:22there are a lot of eyeballs which will be looking at Mr. Akshay Kumar because

03:26of the superstar he is and I would love Kannapa to be known also. My aim is to

03:33tell the story to make sure the story reaches the last person and I got to do

03:38what I got to do. Got it. And I'll do it.
