00:00Whether you want to leave the drizzle behind you in 2025 and hit the beach, or you want
00:08to explore exciting new cities and cultures, we've got you covered as our team have been
00:12out and about finding the best destinations to go to, starting with Richard in Birmingham.
00:17There will be a lot of, over the last few years actually, that people, more and more
00:23young people are travelling to more exotic places, places that is not really common for
00:32the usual clientele, like our usual clientele is usually going back home and so on.
00:39Most of the young people now are more adventurous, they're going to Turkey a lot, Dubai, shopping
00:45in New York, and Las Vegas a lot too for, you know, holidays and honeymoons and so on.
00:53Beverly Lindsay Obeye, former Vice Lord Lieutenant for the West Midlands, has led Diamond Travel
00:59for 38 years. A traveliser in business and a dedicated community leader, she's been recognised
01:05for her contributions to the region and beyond, making her a trusted voice in the travel industry.
01:13Travel habits are evolving with shorter, more frequent trips becoming the norm, from quick
01:18getaways to adventurous escapes. Younger travellers are exploring the world like never before.
01:24People are travelling more often and for a shorter period. In the past it was a longer
01:33period, maybe annually for six weeks or so on, to visit friends and relatives. Now young
01:40people are just having holidays and they're going anywhere.
01:44Beverly stresses the importance of booking through trusted travel agencies. With decades
01:49of experience, her team ensures holiday-makers avoid scams and enjoy peace of mind, while
01:54planning unforgettable trips.
01:57Booking through a reputable travel agency, you know, we are up to, up to, up to, we are
02:03protected, we are fully protected. And sometimes, so we have people who have come back to us
02:10that they're booked online and they're scammed. So just ensure that, you know, wherever, when
02:15they're online, you know, that they are reputable people and they can check it out.
02:21In 2025, Birmingham's travel dreams are diverse, spanning local getaways to far-flung adventures.
02:27We hit the streets to find out where people are hoping to go this year.
02:34I'm a big fan of city breaks, exploring cities across Europe. Unfortunate that I have family
02:41in Ireland and France, so get to visit those countries in the European Union twice, three
02:48times a year. So definitely planning another trip or two to Marseille.
02:52Personally now, rather than have like your one big long holiday, me and my partner just
02:58tend to go around Europe really. So we have a few longer canyons.
03:03It certainly is interesting to hear what the people of the West Midlands have planned
03:05for their travels in 2025. Let's see if the people of Leeds have any different ideas about
03:09where they'll be spending their hard-earned time off.
03:11I'm Karen Rawson and I am sales advisor for Farsley Travel. January started off with a
03:17boom really, really busy. Inquiries are picking up, footfalls picking up as well. People we
03:24find are coming back to travel agents, not just booking everything online. But yeah,
03:29we've been busy and it's a mix of inquiries as well. People are getting a little bit more
03:33adventurous, going a bit further afield, realising they can get a bit more for the money than
03:38just the normal bucket and spade package family holiday to Spain.
03:43Greece is an all-time favourite of mine and that's getting more and more popular for families.
03:49For your couples, Montenegro and Croatia, that's a new sort of up and coming again.
03:56Lots more going off there, interesting sightseeing tours.
04:00Thailand is a very popular destination. I've been myself, one of my firm favourites,
04:05been a couple of times. Get a lot of inquiries for that now, even for families as well.
04:11And even Japan, that's very new up and coming. And rather than the normal Dubai, people are
04:20looking towards the capital, towards Abu Dhabi, because there's all sorts there for families now.
04:26With the new Warner Brothers studios, there's SeaWorld, there's the water parks, it's amazing.
04:33So yeah, really, the world is your oyster. Jet 2 have got a new flight out of East
04:37Brafford to Morocco. So for Agadir, that's a new winter destination. That's proving popular.
04:44And Egypt is making a comeback again. People sort of went off the radar a little bit,
04:48but Egypt is coming back up for a winter destination. And obviously, you've got your
04:52Caribbean, which, for further afield, for November to April, always a lovely place to go.
04:58Cruises is getting more and more popular, obviously, because of value for money.
05:02Yeah, we do a lot. Obviously, the flights, regional flights, we can do from Leeds,
05:06Bradford as well, or we can do the sailing from Southampton. But yeah, cruises, definitely.
05:12It's appealing to more and more people. The biggest ships for the families, adults only.
05:17The earlier you book, the better. It's availability, and it's supply and demand.
05:21So your prices will go up and up. It's a miss now for your last minute cancellations at the
05:2799 pounders. They're a thing of the past now. But yeah, as soon as you know your dates,
05:31where you want to go, we'd always say, always recommend to book.
05:35I want to do Bali, Lombok and Bali, Malaysia. That is on my bucket list.
05:43What else? I've been very lucky throughout my career. I've done the safari. I've been to
05:48Singapore. I've done a lot of America. So yeah, I think that's the only thing that's on my bucket
05:53list now. Malaysia. It's fascinating to hear from the travel agents themselves what they've
05:58got on their bucket list for 2025. Now we can hear from Emily, who's speaking to Robin Tudor
06:02from John Lennon Airport in Liverpool, about the trends he's seeing and what travellers can expect
06:06during their journey through the airport this year. Sun-drenched beaches, snowy ski slopes,
06:12all culture galore. Whether you want a glamorous getaway, a fun family holiday,
06:16or a short city break, we've been at Liverpool John Lennon Airport to hear about their most
06:21popular destinations for 2025. We've got a number of new routes operating. So a bit of a mix from
06:29our city break. So we've got Berlin, which you've not seen for a good few years, come back to the
06:33airport. We've got Prague, which again is another destination we have had and then it stopped and
06:37now it's come back again. We've got an additional service over to Marrakesh. We've also got a new
06:42service running for the summer to Sharm el Sheikh into Egypt, which is probably the furthest
06:47destination directly that you can get to from here. Topping the list for a second consecutive
06:51year, Liverpool John Lennon Airport was once again named best in the UK according to the
06:56annual survey by Consumer Champions, which customers praised their experience at the airport,
07:01rating it five stars for its friendly and good-natured staff, as well as for short queues
07:05at bag drop and security. It also received four stars for its toilets, wi-fi, seating,
07:11baggage reclaim and queues at the check-in desk and passport control. We've seen this kind of
07:16incremental growth. Some are new destinations, but a lot are just increasing the frequency,
07:21again to give consumers that little bit of extra flexibility. If you want to go for one day,
07:25two days, two weeks, three weeks, again there's a bigger choice for passengers ahead. Having only
07:29started operations from Liverpool for the first time last year, Jet2 responded to strong demand
07:34from UK holidaymakers wanting to book their getaways. It's been interesting for us because
07:39we've seen last year with Jet2 coming to the airport for the first time, you know they've
07:43brought not so much many new destinations but more choice for passengers, particularly with
07:49the all-inclusive packages that they offer. And we've seen more of the same again this year,
07:53so Jet2 are increasing their programme, they're adding some new destinations, they're adding
07:58more frequency to other destinations and that's what we see with other carriers as well.
08:02The airline and tour operator has put on 23 sunshine hot spots on sale for summer 2025,
08:08operating almost 70 weekly flights to destinations including Malta, Madeira and Mallorca.
08:13That all-inclusive package where you kind of have to worry about all the little bits and
08:19pieces of that jigsaw, whether it's the flight, the car hire, the accommodation,
08:24that's proven very popular to passengers. The new facilities in the departure lounge include
08:28Monty's, an all-day diner with seating for almost 200 passengers. A new expanded premium lounge
08:34it'll be twice the size of the existing facility and an extension and upgrade are designed to the
08:38existing Kissing Gate pub and kitchen. We've got bigger and better kind of food and beverage areas
08:44going in the departure lounge, you know we're really pleased with the reaction of passengers,
08:48some feedback to us about how much they enjoy flying from here, so we want to give them bigger
08:52and better facilities and that's what we're putting in place. That's a northwest perspective
08:56on the year's travel, now we're off to the southwest to hear what Emma has found out at
09:00Kilroy in Bristol. So today I am here at Kilroy Agency which is situated just off of White Lady's
09:07Road on the Clifton Triangle and we will be finding out from their team where to travel to
09:13in 2025. Let's find out more. So Kilroy all started post-war and students were trying to
09:24thought they could bring peace into the world by getting people to go out and travel and see
09:28the world and so it was founded years ago by some students and then it eventually became what it is
09:35today which is a huge travel agency. Kilroy specialises in travel for young people but
09:42sometimes they also help those who have retired and finished work and got the travel bug. Let's
09:49chat to them to find out more about what they do. We were talking about this obviously for us coming
09:53into 2025 we're kind of thinking like where's going to be popular? I think you're always going
09:59to look at places that you can get to quite close. We've definitely seen that Thailand remains really
10:06popular, from London you've got the direct flights, you can still do it in two weeks and you could
10:12pick your budget, you can still find cheap affordable, you could go luxury, but it's so
10:17much cheaper than luxury in Europe and things like that. I would say Asia is always a very
10:24popular place. There's a lot going on in Thailand. I think Thailand has
10:31always been popular for a long time but it's remained popular because it's just beautiful,
10:37it's a nice easy place to go, you can get direct flights from the UK and from Bristol it's a
10:42short bus to Gatwick or Heathrow. You need to get out of your home city I think at least
10:48twice a year something because you get so trapped in it and it can be depressing obviously
10:53staying same routine every single day but I think that travel is that one luxury that you could save
11:00for and really like enjoy every year and it feels less frivolous I think going on a trip.
11:07The places you can travel from the UK are endless but where can you travel directly from
11:13the city of Bristol? Let's find out. There aren't as many places to go direct from Bristol
11:21but you can go to places like maybe Morocco and there's a lot to do in Morocco.
11:28You could maybe go and do like a surf retreat if you wanted to
11:33so you could go to Marrakech and then as I did recently so I went flew into Marrakech
11:39direct from Bristol and then I travelled along the coast and I did a bit of surfing.
11:44Some people like to go into the desert so there's a lot to do in Morocco.
11:49If that hasn't given you the taste for travel I don't know what will. Well I'm off to pack my
11:53flip-flops bucket and spade and get booked up for the summer. I hope this has given you some
11:57great ideas for 2025 too.
