Patrick Wilson recently addressed speculation about whether he would direct The Conjuring 4 following his directorial debut with 2023's Insidious: The Red Door. While Wilson has proven his talent in the horror genre, he expressed hesitation about taking on the director's chair for the latest installment of The Conjuring. He explained, "I wouldn't dare try to pitch myself for something I didn’t feel passionate about. The honest-to-God truth is I would have to see the story." He also shared advice from James Wan: "Make it yours. Make it personal."
Though The Conjuring 4: The Last Rites has been officially greenlit, no release date has been announced. Based on the three-year gap between the first and second films and the five-year gap before The Devil Made Me Do It, it’s likely that The Conjuring 4 will be released in 2024 or 2025.
