00:00There is a wonderful palace in Rewa, which we know as Bankat Bhavan.
00:05Actually, this palace was built when there was famine in Rewa in 1896-95-96.
00:14So, the population of this place started to move out.
00:18The working class and the poor started to move out.
00:23So, when Maharaja Bankat Raman Singh went to see Sajul Masajid on the invitation of Begum Bhopal,
00:30construction work was going on there.
00:33So, when Maharaja Bankat Raman Singh went to see Sajul Masajid in Bhopal,
00:38everyone started to greet him.
00:40The sculptors stood up.
00:42They asked, how did you come here?
00:44He said that there is famine in Rewa and there is no work.
00:48Maharaja Bankat Raman Singh said that you people go to Rewa and we will give you work.
00:53As soon as he reached Rewa, he called an engineer by the name of Harrison, who was studying in Cooper Hills, England.
01:02He asked him to make a map whose work would go on for a long time.
01:09So, he made a map on the basis of sky, earth, earth, and clouds.
01:17An engineer by the name of Harrison made the map and gave it to him.
01:21So, all the sculptors started working here.
01:26So, when the sculptors got work and the work started to go on very fast,
01:34there were about 250-300 sculptors, 400-500 labourers, and the work started.
01:45So, those sculptors composed a song.
01:49They said,
01:51The work has started in Bankat Bhawan. The work is going on very fast.
01:54The darkness of my hands has gone.
01:56And the colour of my hair has gone.
01:58And I have asked for a lot of food.
02:02So, they gave food and money.
02:07The main sculptor who was selected was Muhammad Abishai.
02:12Apart from him, there were Deen Muhammad, Alaf Khan, Suriddin, and Jairam Khar.
02:24All the sculptors were from Bishya, Karahi, Govindgarh, and Thulia.
02:34So, when these sculptors made the Bhawan,
02:39the main structure of it is standing on a round tank.
02:47And there is a 9.5-feet-tall house in that structure.
02:55And there is a 15-feet-tall bridge inside the house.
03:02And after going to the bridge, you will find a platform.
03:06And you will find 12 doors around it.
03:11So, when this work started, people were coming to see it.
03:17And the king of the states, Maharaj, also came to see it.
03:21So, Maharaja Bankat Raman Singh Jodhi had it covered.
03:24He said that no one will see it until it is ready.
03:29So, it is built in an area of 4,742 square feet.
03:36And there is a tunnel connected to it.
03:42These tunnels look very mysterious.
03:45One tunnel goes to Banki, which is completely safe.
03:51And the other one goes to Amra Koti.
03:54When the Bhawan was built, the material used for it was
03:59brought from the Ghatwa mines and Khutaihi mines.
04:08And the spices used by the sculptors in it,
04:12such as jaggery, bel, urad dal, sand, katha, surkhi, and chuna,
04:18were roasted in a tank for 21 days.
04:22And after roasting, it was rotated around 365 times by bullock carts.
04:28Then that spice was used in it.
04:30Some stones have been brought in it from Govindgarh.
04:33And its carvings, the carvings of the mine, are very beautiful.
04:39And what has been plastered in it,
04:42it has been plastered with the powder of Sheep, Suti, and Sangmarman.
04:53And in which jaggery, urad dal, etc. have been used,
04:58which we have told you.
05:00And it was rubbed with coconut husk.
05:03And then it was rubbed with the lint of Dhaka.
05:07So you will see that even today you will see your face in it.
05:13So the lower part of it makes you feel like Bhulok.
05:19The upper part of it makes you feel like land.
05:28And its roof reminds you of the sky.
05:35And you will see the stars coming in it.
05:40And it was in very good condition until about 30 years ago.
05:45And the ironwork that has been done in it,
05:50the ironwork that has been done, the ironwork that has been done,
05:53it came from England.
05:55And they were getting 5 paise from the women workers.
05:59And Maharaja Venkatraman Singh Jodhav
06:01had opened up the entire palace so that our people could not have any problem.
06:08And they could eat and work.
06:10They were also being given money and food.
06:13So this palace is one of the beautiful palaces of Madhya Pradesh.
06:18Its secret tunnels.
06:20The tunnels that were made were made with the view of security.
06:27You will see the tunnels made by Venkatraman Singh Jodhav.
06:31There is a very big circular hall in it.
06:36In which about 4 feet or 3.5 feet of water can be kept.
06:40So that is the meeting hall.
06:43In difficult days or when there is a need to have a meeting in a crisis,
06:51that meeting hall used to work.
06:54And it also served as a public bath.
06:59And to get the water out, a national lift system was made in it.
07:05Which was rotated by bulls and water was thrown down.
07:11And a system was made there to fill new water.
07:15This palace is our wonderful palace.
07:18It reminds us of our king Venkatraman Singh Jodhav's loyalty to the people.
07:28And our palace also reminds us that when there was a crisis in the people of Rewa Raj,
07:37how Maharaja Rewa opened his palace and got the palace built.
07:43The construction of this palace started in 1897-97.
