Mansa: Lovepreet Singh (24), a youth from Mansa district who was recruited as an Agni Veer in the Indian Army two years ago, has been martyred after being shot by terrorists in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir. The mortal remains of Shaheed Agni Veer Lovepreet Singh will reach village Akaliya in the district this afternoon, where Lovepreet Singh will be cremated with full state honours. Lovepreet Singh, a youth from village Akaliya in Mansa district, who was posted in the Indian Army to protect the country on the borders and was recruited two years ago, has died of martyrdom at around 3 pm on Wednesday due to being shot by terrorists. Lovepreet Singh was the youngest son of his parents and he is one of two brothers. Lovepreet Singh was the younger one who had joined the Indian Army as an Agniveer two years ago. Sarpanch of village Akaliya Jasvir Singh said that Lovepreet Singh was a very talented young man, who has brought glory to village Akaliya by joining the Indian Army as an Agni Veer and has sacrificed his life for the country. He said that Lovepreet Singh was the youngest son of his parents and he was a bachelor who was serving in the Indian Army. Today there is a wave of mourning in village Akaliya, Shaheed Agni Veer Lovepreet Singh and the villagers are also feeling proud. He said that today Shaheed Lovepreet Singh has sacrificed his life for his country. The villagers appealed to the Government of India to change the Agni Veer scheme in the Indian Army and provide the same facilities as other soldiers to these Agni Veer youths so that the families of the martyrs can earn their living.
