Transcript
00:00For January this year, the Aussie Police District was made aware that a four-month-old child
00:04was taken to Gunnedah Hospital for serious injuries.
00:06That child was later taken to John Hunter Hospital where he passed away.
00:11The Aussie Police District, in consultation with the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad
00:15and Child Abuse Squad, have established Strike Force Monier to investigate the circumstances
00:19of that child's death.
00:21We are treating that death as suspicious at this time.
00:23We're asking for anyone in the Gunnedah Republic or anyone with information to come forward
00:28to Crime Stoppers 1-800-333-000 in relation to information about that child's death.
00:34Again, sometimes information can be facts, sometimes it's rumour, but if anyone has
00:40any information, come forward to investigate this and allow us to decide.
00:43The response by medical staff, police, ambulance, those involved in the investigation, it is
00:48a tough time, as you can imagine.
00:50Investigating the circumstances of the death of any person, let alone of a four-month-old
00:55baby, is a challenge.
00:58It's also an esteemed obligation on investigators to make sure enough information is put before
01:04the coroner or the court to make that determination of the child's death.
