Indonesia launches international carbon exchanges

Indonesia opens its carbon exchange for international markets, giving companies outside the archipelago a chance to offset their emissions, as Jakarta pledged to phase out coal by 2040.

The move comes after Jakarta launched its first carbon exchange in September 2023 for its domestic markets in a move lauded at the time to assist Indonesia in achieving its climate goals.
