00:02Not only will the increase in rice supply be beneficial to the double dry or two-time planting of rice in Tag-Init,

00:12it will also help to increase the supply of electricity.

00:16This is Keith De La Cruz Piloti of Radyo Pilipinas for Balitang Pambansa.

00:21Moving the crapping calendar or planting in Tag-Init.

00:26This is one of the solutions of the National Irrigation Administration or NIA

00:32to increase the production of rice in the country this year.

00:36In a statement of Radyo Pilipinas,

00:38NIA Administrator Eddie Guillen said that they are encouraged by rice farmers

00:44to help them to implement the program.

00:48We know from NIA that a magic solution here is to increase our crapping intensity.

00:55This is how we move the crapping calendar here in dry season.

00:59We have convinced our farmers of around 350,000 hectares.

01:05If NIA grows,

01:07up to 1.5 to 2 million metric tons will be added to the supply of rice due to double dry.

01:16And because farmers will plant in Tag-Init,

01:20Guillen affirmed that NIA will continue to help through irrigation.

01:25Not only will it increase the production of rice in the country,

01:29but it will also be the supply of electricity.

01:31We will double dry for the summer crop.

01:35This is for the April, May, June, July crop.

01:38This means that NIA will continue to release water to our large dams.

01:43This will help in increasing our supply of electricity.

01:49Meanwhile, NIA assured that they will continue to expand the contract farming program

01:55so that more Filipinos can benefit from the government's cheap rice.
