CGTN Europe's Juliet Mann spoke with the Managing Director of the World Economic Forum Jeremy Jurgens.
Transcript
00:00I spoke to Jeremy Juergens, he's the Managing Director here at the World Economic Forum,
00:04about the impact the inauguration might have on discussions here in Davos.
00:10We have leaders from 130 different countries actually participating with us, over 50 heads
00:16of state and government. We'll be opening the meeting with Ursula von der Leyen from the EU,
00:23and also Vice Premier Ding leading a Chinese delegation. So this will kind of open
00:29and set the tone for the meeting going forward. And we've also, Donald Trump,
00:34President, will be participating on Thursday, a remote following the inauguration in the US.
00:40So we'll have a chance to hear from different perspectives. And I think there's a strong
00:45interest for parties to hear how each leader presents both the opportunities and what they
00:51understand as risks and challenges from their respective views.
00:55But in terms of the Trump inauguration,
00:58all eyes are on the US, aren't they? And what the new administration is really going to do?
01:04Yeah, so, you know, we have 3000 people here. So I think we're very much curious to see what
01:10comes out. But the US is still participating in a larger global economy. So there are a lot
01:15of questions there. We will have representatives from the administration sharing and exchanging
01:21coming in to Davos after the inauguration. So I think very much looking forward to hear there.
01:26But I think people are just as curious to hear what's the outlook in Europe,
01:30you know, questions around deindustrialization, still ongoing conflict in Ukraine,
01:36questions emerging in Latin America. We have Millet here, where I think people are very curious
01:42about the turnaround that he's affected. When he came here a year ago, there were a lot of
01:46questions what would happen. Looks like pretty much a success, what he's done there,
01:51and also representatives from Africa and the Middle East. So it very much is a global meeting.
