00:00Her booking at Donald Trump's 2025 inauguration raised plenty of hackles, but that's far from
00:06the only reason why Carrie Underwood has gotten on other stars' nerves.
00:10Taylor Swift's beef with Underwood reportedly dates as far back as February 2013, when Us
00:15Weekly reported that their respective teams went to great lengths to ensure that they
00:19weren't seated next to each other at that year's Grammys.
00:22According to a source from Swift's camp, Taylor feels Carrie is always rude to her, so she
00:26steers clear of her.
00:27You know I have to do the opening skit with Taylor, so any advice for being on the CMA
00:32stage?
00:33Just whatever you do, don't suck.
00:35Us Weekly's report came a few months after Underwood used Swift's breakup with Conor
00:39Kennedy as fodder for her CMA Awards monologue, and that apparently wasn't the only time that
00:44Underwood had some unkind words about one of Swift's relationships.
00:48As a source told Radar in 2016,
00:49"...there has never been any love between Taylor and Carrie."
00:52But things have become icier than ever between them, because Taylor overheard backstabbing
00:56snickers that Carrie disrespected Calvin Harris and called her relationship with him
01:00a fomance.
01:02Carrie Underwood's husband, Mike Fisher, and Hilary Duff's ex-husband, Mike Comrie,
01:06are retired hockey players who were teammates on the Ottawa Senators.
01:09While Duff's marriage to Comrie ended in 2016, rumors of her feud with Underwood have survived.
01:14It's long been rumored, mostly by fans, that they never hit it off with each other.
01:18In light of Underwood performing at Trump's 2025 inauguration, a post on Threads claiming
01:22that Duff used to ignore Underwood's existence at Senators games ended up going viral.
01:27The post isn't much, as it just consists of a speculative caption, along with a photo
01:31of the two ladies watching a game, from different sections of their private suite.
01:34However, a 2009 post from Lainey Gossip really fueled speculation about Duff and Underwood's
01:40opposing personalities.
01:41They reportedly hardly interacted at games, and the piece placed the blame for that on
01:45Underwood, claiming that, unlike Duff, she seemed to be above socializing with her fellow
01:49wives and girlfriends.
01:50The piece also claimed that Underwood took advantage of the VIP entrances to further
01:54avoid socializing with everyone.
01:57For any country music fans disappointed by Carrie Underwood's extracurricular activities,
02:01there's another queen that they can turn to during any difficult times in the form of
02:05Kacey Musgraves.
02:06She boasts an equally impressive discography and isn't afraid to get political, something
02:10that Underwood shies away from.
02:12And she's definitely given Underwood the side-eye in years past.
02:15When Musgraves' 2015 album, Paget Material, was coming out, she sat down for an interview
02:19with Fader to hash out her feelings towards the current country music scene.
02:23The album title was a jab at the state of the industry, which Musgraves often felt she
02:26didn't fit into.
02:28While discussing the superficiality of modern country music, she also let some personal
02:32grievances slip.
02:33As she put it,
02:34"'There was this cycle in Nashville where if you were a girl, you had to be really sassy.
02:38You cheated on me, so I'm going to burn your house down.
02:40I've never felt a kinship to those kinds of songs.'"
02:42It's hard not to read that as a thinly-veiled reference to Underwood's signature song, Before
02:47He Cheats.
02:48Although Underwood isn't the only musical act at Trump's 2025 inauguration, she is the
02:53one who's received the brunt of the public outcry.
02:55For example, during an episode of The View, co-host Joy Behar pondered,
02:59"'She says, I love our country.
03:01How do you love your country and support and normalize somebody who was a convicted felon
03:05who really wants to destroy the country, in my opinion?'
03:08"'I don't understand how you say you love your country at the same time as you normalize
03:12this convicted felon, which I can say now every day.'"
03:15Black queen Kornbread Jette voiced some similar dissatisfaction about the inauguration booking
03:19as she wrote a social media post that made a pointed reference to a Before He Cheats
03:23lyric that mentions,
03:24"'Cheap bar bathroom cologne.'"
03:26The song is all about Underwood detailing a not-so-secret date between her unfaithful
03:29partner and another woman, and it sounds as if Kornbread is hoping that life will imitate
03:34art for the singer.
03:35For years, there's been a pernicious rumor that Underwood and her fellow American Idol
03:39alum Kelly Clarkson have beef with each other.
03:42Clarkson was the first winner of the competition series, while Underwood was the Season 4 champ,
03:46and both have enjoyed plenty of fame and success since then.
03:49But a narrative has persisted that would rather pit them against each other.
03:52Clarkson attempted to clear the air during a 2023 episode of Watch What Happens Live,
03:56although she did it in such a way that suggested there might be some truth to these rumors.
04:00"'There's no beef between us.
04:02There's, well, nothing between us.
04:04We don't know each other.'"
04:05With Underwood in the spotlight for her inauguration gig, this supposed feud has been getting plenty
04:09of renewed attention.
04:11Clarkson also performed at a presidential inauguration, specifically Barack Obama's
04:14in 2013.
04:15For her part, though, she's avoided saying anything publicly about Underwood following
04:19in her footsteps in this area.
04:21Meanwhile, fans of both singers have been quick to point out that Clarkson seems to
04:25have come out the winner in any potential feud.
04:27As one person put it on social media,
04:29"'Kerry Underwood is a country singer.
04:31Kelly Clarkson is a country, pop, R&B, blues, rock, gospel singer.
04:36Kerry can't compete where she doesn't compare.'"
