The TLC show OutDaughtered follows Adam and Danielle Busby as they face all the struggles of raising quintuplets, as well as one older daughter. Now that the quintuplets are reaching Pre-K age, the Busbys have decided to put one of them, Riley, in kindergarten, due to her advanced test scores. Both parents have commented frequently about how intelligent Riley is, and they have even wondered if she acts out so much because she is simply bored. Some may criticize the parents' decision, but they're convinced it's the right one. Let's look at why one of the OutDaughtered quints is skipping Pre-K.

00:00Even the biggest fans of TLC's OutDaughtered probably have trouble telling the quints apart.
00:06Riley, Ava, Olivia, Hazel, and Parker are adorable, to be sure, but they also look an
00:12awful lot alike.
00:13They are, of course, unique individuals, and their parents, Danielle and Adam Busby, have
00:18reminded us time and again that they all have their own personalities.
00:23That's why it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise that one of the quints is skipping
00:26a grade and starting kindergarten early.
00:29The Busbys posted a picture of the quints with their big sister, Blake, on Instagram
00:33on August 19th, 2019, showing the quints, all wearing matching dresses, headed to their
00:38first day of school.
00:40The caption reads,
00:41"'First day of school' Blake, 3rd grade, Riley, Kindergarten, Ava, Olivia, Hazel, and Parker,
00:48Upper Rotation Pre-K. Let your light shine bright, girls!"
00:52Danielle previously revealed that Riley in particular has a big personality and is always
00:57getting into trouble.
00:59Though Riley is usually the naughty one, she really does have a sweet, cuddly side to her.
01:04She wants to do good, but her personality just kinda gets in the way."
01:07The Busbys have had an inkling for some time now that Riley is gifted, and her parents
01:12have commented on her intelligence before.
01:15During the season four premiere, the Busbys talked about Riley.
01:18Adam said,
01:19"'The whole house revolves around Riley.
01:22She thinks everything is about her and she will not back down.
01:25It is Riley's world.
01:27She's bossy.
01:28She is the toughest.
01:29She will pick a fight and she will win it.
01:31And she throws the worst tantrums.
01:34She'll get what she wants."
01:36In spite of all this, Danielle reminded viewers that Riley is so cute and really smart, an
01:41assessment that her husband quickly agreed with, saying, quote,
01:44"'I think she's smarter than all of us.'"
01:47In a blog post on the family's website, It's a Buzz World, the Busbys revealed that Riley
01:52is already a deep thinker at just four years old.
01:56Danielle wrote in the blog post titled 13 Things About Riley Page,
02:00"'It was fun having Riley answer these questions because she had to really think about what
02:04the answer was and what she actually wanted to tell me.
02:07For instance, check out the favorite food, lol.
02:11She wanted to give the right answer instead of what she really likes.'"
02:15Riley gave her favorite food as broccoli and ranch-slash-vegetables, which, according to
02:20her mom, is the Sunday school answer, as Riley won't eat veggies for anything.
02:25In June, we saw the quints take a preschool test on OutDaughtered.
02:28The average score on the test is a 40.
02:31Riley scored much higher than average, earning an unusual 84 on the exam.
02:36After hearing the results, Danielle was concerned.
02:38"'I don't know if I can handle a smart kid.'"
02:43And Adam wondered if Riley would pull focus off the rest of the clan.
02:47"'It's pretty awesome to hear how advanced Riley is, but we do have five other girls
02:53at home, and how do we keep her stimulated?'
02:56Danielle also wondered if Riley's need for a challenge might explain some of her wild
03:01behavior at home, saying,
03:03"'I'm starting to wonder if she's bored and if that's why she always acts up.'"
03:07The owner of the preschool, who revealed the quints' testing results to the Busbys, discussed
03:12putting Riley in an advanced placement class, but it appears that they opted to have her
03:16skip a grade instead.
03:18Splitting up the siblings might seem mean, but it looks like Riley is ready for more
03:22of a challenge, and her parents don't want to hold her back.
03:26Of course, the critics came out in force upon learning of the decision, and Adam responded
03:30to them in the comments of the back-to-school Instagram photo, writing,
03:34"'It was a learning experience for us, and it's been positive since we chose to separate
03:38them.
03:39There ain't a manual for raising quints.
03:41We are making the best decision that we can with the information and intuition that we
03:46have as their parents.'"
03:47Good luck in kindergarten, Miss Riley!
