00:00Cap, the biggest brand in sports, particularly the Dallas Cowboys, on the hunt for a head
00:04coaching job themselves.
00:06We're taking a look at Deion Sanders picking up phone calls from Jerry Jones, but Kellen
00:10Moore, who was there for a few years in Dallas and had some success before he went out to
00:14Los Angeles and now with the Philadelphia Eagles.
00:16Give us an update here on the Dallas Cowboys coaching search.
00:18Yeah, Donny, here's the situation with Kellen Moore.
00:21So understand something, Jerry Jones did not fire Kellen Moore, Mike McCarthy did.
00:26Mike McCarthy was told if he wanted to be the head coach.
00:29Kellen Moore was going to call the plays and he was going to be offensive coordinator.
00:33Mike would have input, but Kellen would be calling the plays and they were not going
00:36to run a West Coast offense.
00:37Mike, I don't want to say to save his job, but he had seen enough over a number of years
00:44and he decided to part ways with Kellen and he wanted to run his West Coast offense.
00:47And Kellen, as you mentioned, went to the Chargers last year.
00:50The Chargers were beat up at wide receiver and it just didn't look like they wanted to
00:55look last year.
00:56So we've gone to Philly, best running game in football by a large margin, Baltimore's
01:01number two, but the Eagles, in terms of best running back in football this year, it's Taequann
01:05Barkley, but they know him.
01:07Kellen and Jerry Jones have a good relationship, I'm told they've known each other for a number
01:10of years.
01:11It would be a minor upset if he's not the head coach.
01:13Yes, I know about Deion and Jerry and Deion go back 30 years, as you know, or nearly 30
01:18years because he played for them in the mid nineties.
01:20But the bottom line is when you look at this situation, it's Kellen Moore, it's Dak Prescott
01:25who work very well together and that's the bottom line.
01:29And one thing I would say, though, this would impact Jalen Hurts and Jalen talked about
01:32this in the spring.
01:33Jalen, going back to high school, has had almost eight or nine play callers.
01:37That's a lot.
01:38That's a lot of change for a quarterback.
01:39That's something to consider with Philadelphia going forward.
01:42Cap, one coordinator that said he's going to wait until after the playoffs is Cliff
01:47Kingsbury.
01:48And if they get the victory tonight over Detroit, he's going to be a hot name as well.
01:53I mean, are the Bears in entertaining Cliff Kingsbury in any capacity because of the relationship
02:00with Caleb Williams?
02:01Yeah, coached him one year at USC.
02:04He is on their list.
02:05But Ben Johnson, again, is number one.
02:07It's just it's to be honest with you, he's when you talk to NFL people, Joe.
02:14Everybody goes Ben Johnson's the guy.
02:15In fact, he was the guy last year.
02:16But there was some question whether he really wanted to coach.
02:19But moving forward to here.
02:20Yes, there's no question that Cliff Kingsbury is the guy to look at.
02:23If this thing goes on a lot longer, by the way, you cannot if you're coaching, you can't
02:27agree to a deal.
02:28But your coaching agent can talk to the club.
02:31They could talk about what the deal would look like in terms of years and money.
02:35And that Ben Johnson deal, guys, by the way, if and when it gets done, whether it's this
02:39year or next year, could wind up surpassing Bill Belichick, who's the highest paid coach
02:43in NFL history.
