00:05Congresswoman Lauren Boebert has long been a lightning rod for controversy,
00:10but some of her fashion choices are downright cringeworthy.
00:12Boebert has ruffled a lot of feathers over the years with some of her over-the-top
00:16outfits. In November 2021, about a month after the tragic accidental death of cinematographer
00:21Helena Hutchins on the set of the film Rust, Boebert wore a shirt that read,
00:25"'Guns don't kill people, Alec Baldwin does.'"
00:28The shirt was referring to the fact that Baldwin was the person who pulled the trigger on the
00:32prop gun that led to Hutchins' death. Comments regarding her outfit choice were blunt,
00:36to say the least. For instance, one person said Boebert was being disrespectful to Hutchins and
00:40her loved ones. Another simply commented, "'Uvalde'," presumably referring to the
00:44Uvalde school shooting that left 21 people dead in May 2022.
00:49Whether someone agrees with another person's politics or not, those in the public eye
00:53should still maintain some sort of professionalism. Unfortunately, Boebert didn't
00:57see things that way when she wore a red dress with the words,
01:00"'Let's go Brandon' printed on the back while standing next to Donald Trump."
01:03The phrase became a way for Republicans to say F-you to President Joe Biden without
01:07actually saying the words. One person called the dress tacky on Instagram,
01:11while another told Boebert to avoid cursing people.
01:14"'No matter what our political opinion, I don't think it needs to be that vulgar.'"
01:19For Flag Day in 2020, Boebert went to Grand Junction, Colorado to celebrate with other
01:23conservatives. The shirt she wore while making it clear she was packing heat with a gun holstered
01:28to her hip read,
01:29"'God Guns Trump.'" Many people took to the comments on her Instagram carousel of the event
01:33to share their disapproval of her decision to wear a gun to the celebration. One person warned,
01:38"'Put the weapon away, you're going to hurt someone.'"
01:40The lack of commas on her shirt could also be interpreted as God
01:44is arming Donald Trump with guns. Whether that was the message of the shirt or not,
01:48it's still inappropriate to wear a shirt glorifying guns while also carrying a gun
01:52to a community event that included families.
01:55Then, in May 2023, Boebert raised a lot of eyebrows by wearing a knee-length turquoise
02:00dress and pumps to a construction site. Wearing closed-toed shoes with a proper
02:04heel to a construction site is a no-brainer, but Boebert decided to ignore safety regulations
02:08and overdress for the event and subsequent photo shoot.
02:11One person commented on Boebert's Facebook post,
02:14If you took this seriously, you would have dressed appropriately. Photo ops are irrelevant
02:18to voters." Another person commented that Boebert was out of touch and wondered why
02:22anyone would wear high heels to a construction site. But perhaps Boebert's most controversial
02:27outfit made headlines in September 2023 when she attended a Beetlejuice performance at the
02:32Buell Theater in Denver. The congresswoman was watching the musical with a male companion,
02:36and the duo were reportedly vaping and causing a disturbance during the show.
02:41The troublemakers were eventually escorted out by security, and the security footage
02:45showed Boebert wearing a tight, low-cut dress that showed a lot of cleavage.
02:49As a politician elected by the public, Boebert should have held herself to a
02:52higher standard in response to both her behavior and her clothing. Following the incident,
02:57a caller asked Howard Stern for his thoughts on the situation during the Howard Stern Show.
03:01Stern did not hold back, saying,
03:03Lauren Boebert is a disgrace to this country. She's in a s---- dress."
03:09Boebert didn't comment about her outfit choice,
03:11but she did admit she was being disruptive in a tongue-in-cheek post to X.
03:15She also apologized in a statement, writing,
03:17"[The past few days have been difficult and humbling, and I'm truly sorry for the
03:21unwanted attention my Sunday evening in Denver has brought to the community.
03:25I simply fell short of my values."
