00:00A Pakistani court sentenced former Prime Minister Imran Khan to 14 years in prison for land
00:08corruption on Friday. The verdict was delivered by an anti-graft court at a prison in Rawalpindi,
00:14where Khan has been jailed since August 2023. Khan's wife, Bushra Bibi, was also found guilty
00:21and sentenced to seven years in prison. She was out on bail but was taken into custody
00:26after the judgment. The duo had pleaded not guilty. Khan's supporters condemned the verdict,
00:32calling it a witch-hunt against the former cricket star.
00:35Today, the trial court of the National Accountability Bureau has convicted Imran Khan and he sentenced
00:44him to 14 years imprisonment. And he has also convicted the spouse of Imran Khan to seven
00:49years imprisonment. We consider this to be a verdict which is not based on facts, it's
00:53against the evidence. It is actually a witch-hunt, a political victimization. Khan Sahib has
00:58done no wrong, he has committed no crime. He is simply there in the jail just to put
01:02a pressure on him and it's a political victimization. We would file an appeal against these judgments
01:07and sentences in the Islamabad High Court and we hope we will get justice, inshallah.
01:14This is a fake case, it's a politically motivated case. Everybody in Pakistan knows it. This
01:20will go into High Court and most probably get quashed because it is so ridiculous.
01:26The 72-year-old former premier was indicted on charges that he and his wife were given
01:31land by a real estate developer during his premiership from 2018 to 2022 in exchange
01:38for illegal favours.
