00:00They were doing some tree trimming in the area and she got knocked out of the nest.
00:04We needed to make sure she made it through the first night.
00:07I was scared to death she wasn't going to make it.
00:13So at first I think she was just very much like,
00:15let me get some food and she would get curious and hop around.
00:19Can I have some of your apple?
00:21But once she got big enough, she really just became very playful.
00:26She wanted to come out and she wanted to hop between us and run around and climb on things.
00:36We'd take her out in the backyard for a while, for like a month or so,
00:40for the sun and just get used to all the things.
00:44We wanted to make sure she could dig and climb.
00:49So we'd bring her cage out onto the front porch
00:53and let her kind of hang out, get used to all of that.
00:56And then I think one day we opened her cage.
00:59She came out and climbed to the top of the tree.
01:04I didn't think she was coming back.
01:06I didn't think we'd ever see her again.
01:08Come on, Kevin.
01:10And as it started to get dark, we gave her a call and now she came.
01:20Come here, Kevin.
01:22Then after a while, we just moved the cage away.
01:26But she would still, as soon as we would come outside,
01:28or first thing in the morning, she'd be out here waiting for us.
01:32You're so cute.
01:33You're so cute.
01:34Can you see yourself?
01:36We always joke that you can tell she's the home-schooled squirrel.
01:40She is perfectly fine out on her own.
01:42I just think that she knows that we're here and we love her and she comes back to visit.
01:48And if we're not outside, she'll just kind of sit in the window here
01:51until somebody notices her.
02:03And she was great with our daughter.
02:06And you know, as a 10-year-old, I liked using it as a teaching moment as well for her.
02:11You know, kindness and to be gentle.
02:14We don't deserve animals, guys.
02:18I think we probably needed her as much as she needed us at that point in time.
02:22And it's just, it gives you the warm fuzzies.
