00:00From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., MMDA recommended that the office hours of national government agencies in Metro Manila should be made earlier.
00:12This can be seen from the slowdown of the traffic during rush hour.
00:16First news, Joseph Moro.
00:22More than half a million government officials are working every day in Metro Manila.
00:28According to the data collected by MMDA, most of the public vehicles are driving.
00:33Usually, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., government officials are working.
00:39Their trip to and from work is included in the MMDA's rush hour,
00:44or the number of people on the main roads in Metro Manila, from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., and from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m.
00:53It's okay for us to go to work, but going home is too much traffic.
00:57In May of last year, Metro Manila Council and MMDA tried to speed up the entry of local government officials in Metro Manila from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
01:07This was done from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
01:10What they saw was that 10 percent of the time spent on the trip was reduced,
01:15and the trip was 20 percent faster on the roads near and around the LGUs.
01:21Although, only a few trips were changed to the main roads in Metro Manila.
01:26But for the LGUs who performed the trip, they are in favor of continuing it.
01:31The entrance time of the City Hall is now less than the entrance time of the schools.
01:41Most of the transactions in the City Hall are done in the morning.
01:44Employees are used to entering from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
01:51Also, rush hours or peak hours are not as hot.
01:57It's easier for them to go home.
01:59For me, there are only a few of us left who are employed.
02:04Five of us.
02:05Because I have another eight to enter.
02:09MMDA explained why it is only allowed to enter from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
02:15because of the traffic.
02:18We were not able to include all of the NGAs.
02:22If all of the national government agencies will implement the 7 to 4,
02:28we will really feel the good effect of it.
02:33MMDA wants to do the 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. schedule of work
02:39of national government agencies in Metro Manila.
02:42MMDA's target is to submit the recommendation to the President
02:46before March, when the rehabilitation of some parts of Elza will begin
02:51which is expected to be affected by the traffic.
02:54MMDA will wait for the recommendation of several LGUs
02:58before submitting the recommendation to the President.
03:01I prefer the 7 to 4.
03:03It avoids the traffic.
03:04I don't like it because I am far away.
03:06I will be late.
03:07It's too early.
03:08It's hard to wake up.
03:10This is the first news.
