00:00Now we focus on the NFC South, where for four consecutive years with two different quarterbacks,
00:06the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have won the divisional crown.
00:08The final two years with Tom Brady, actually not the Super Bowl year, oddly enough in Tampa,
00:14they were a wild card team that season.
00:16And even with Baker Mayfield, an NFC South divisional title last year, a home playoff
00:22win, an NFC South divisional crown this year came up short, as we know, against the Commanders
00:28on Sunday night.
00:30But DRS, the Buccaneers, have not been priced as the NFC South favorites entering a year
00:36since Tom Brady's time in Tampa Bay.
00:39Might they be this upcoming season?
00:41You can see the odds right there.
00:43The Bucs had the second best price, but plenty of plus money at plus 310.
00:48The Falcons, after the offseason acquisition of Kirk Cousins, quickly became the minus
00:53money favorite to win the NFC South, and even sweeping Tampa throughout the regular
00:59season could not get that done.
01:01In fact, losing the regular season finale in overtime against the Carolina Panthers.
01:06So now entering 2025, still with a full offseason ahead of us, the buy or sell question to you DRS
01:13is this, the Buccaneers will open as odds on, that's minus money, NFC South favorites
01:19entering 2025.
01:21I'm buying that.
01:22I'm going to buy that.
01:22And I do think it's going to be close.
01:24But if you look at the four teams in that division, you start with the Buccaneers.
01:27Well, Baker Mayfield is the best quarterback in that division.
01:29That's usually going to get a massive hand up over the next season.
01:32And it's the next two to three years, as you should, unless you have one of these younger
01:36quarterbacks take the mantle, which we'll get to.
01:38Mike Evans, you know, he's probably going to come back.
01:39We'll have a 12th season with a thousand yards.
01:41Bucky Irving looks like he's on the cusp of being a superstar running back in the NFL.
01:46And that defense, as long as Todd Bowles still stays as the head coach, is going to be comparable.
01:50The only drawback might be if Lee Cohen does move on, which means Baker Mayfield will have
01:54three separate play callers in three separate years down in Tampa.
01:56That's something you don't want to have, but you trust that Baker Mayfield would get through it
02:00the same way he got through losing Dave Canales to the Carolina Panthers.
02:03You take a look at the Atlanta Falcons, who I do think will be in line for a close spot
02:07here at the Buccaneers, because what we've seen out of Michael Penix looks like he's
02:11going to be pretty good.
02:12An entire offseason of him being the starting quarterback, that adds up.
02:15You have weapons all over the place, which includes Bijan Robinson, the best running
02:18back in that division.
02:19And hopefully Raheem Morris gets that defense together.
02:22But for me, it'd still be the Buccaneers.
02:24Reclamation project still with the Carolina Panthers.
02:26You want them to win six, seven, maybe eight games next year and sort of be in contention.
02:31And then there's the Saints and Salary Capel.
02:33Don't know who our quarterback is going to be, who our coach is going to be.
02:36You get the point there.
02:37So for me, I am buying the Buccaneers once again as a slight favorite in this division,
02:41which they weren't last year.
02:43But I do think they'll be slightly ahead of the Falcons, who were supposed to win it this year,
02:46just being just a little bit behind those Bucs.
02:50But my friend, that wasn't necessarily the actual wording of the buy or sell question.
02:56I would buy that the Buccaneers will be a favorite to win the NFC South entering 2025.
03:03On minus money, I'm going to sell because like you, I still think there will be a ton
03:07of odds optimism for the Falcons.
03:10I think the Bucs are going to be plus 125 to win the NFC South and maybe Atlanta at
03:16plus 200 plus 250 with the Saints and the Panthers, maybe not all that far behind.
03:22I do think there is going to be some offseason love for Bryce Young,
03:26reinstalling himself as the face and future of the franchise in Charlotte in what turned out
03:32to be a successful second half of the first year under Dave Canales, a team that was incredibly
03:39competitive down the home stretch and looked really efficient offensively with Bryce Young.
03:44The Saints, I actually think are going to be alongside the Panthers as one of the longer
03:49prices in this division.
03:50But I do think there will be a closer distinction than maybe we already perceive between the
03:56Buccaneers and the Falcons.
03:58Tampa will be a favorite, but in minus money, I'm not so sure.
04:03Yeah, but that's not what the question asked.
04:04The odds on favorite though, buy or sell will be the Buccaneers.
04:07So yes, we in agreement that it will be the Buccaneers next year.
04:11Uh-oh, you're not saying that you have to be minus 115 at this point.
04:15The odds on favorite means you have the best odds to win that division.
04:19No way.
04:20Donnie, don't out yourself.
04:22They'll come to you on social media.
04:24One of the first things that I learned here hosting at the Spiz Grizz Network was that
04:30if you say that odds on means minus money.
04:36That's insides.
04:37That's just insides.
04:38You can't have two teams at plus money playing a football game together, right?
04:41So the odds on favorite in a game would be, yes, the favorite because they are minus money.
04:46That's the odds on favorite.
04:47You can't have an odds on favorite there at that point with a, let's just say minus 160,
04:51Kansas City plus 240.
04:53Yes, it makes sense there, but you are odds on favorite if you're the favorite in the
04:57odds market in that said market.
04:59What about Duke winning a national championship?
05:01They're plus money.
05:01They're the odds on favorite to win the championship.
05:04They have the best odds.
05:05Nobody else is minus money.
