Oceanfront mansions, upscale neighborhoods, and tightknit mobile home parks were reduced to rubble by wind-drive flames from the Palisades Fire.

00:00From oceanfront mansions to
00:01neighborhoods in the hills and a
00:04mobile home park by the beach,
00:06we talk about it like it's a war zone.
00:09Nothing survived the fury of the flames
00:12and the extreme heat from the Palisades
00:15fire. We were in a mobile home park,
00:17so it was affordable and we had a lot
00:20of creative people. Lisa Atkinson

00:26Home Park lost nearly everything
00:28they owned. We have fires in
00:30Southern California. It's a fire zone,
00:32so we're like, yeah, yeah,
00:33there's another. It's not going to
00:35come to us because we're on the ocean.
00:38Like there's the ocean.
00:39This windstorm was different.
00:41Hurricane force winds sent flames
00:43racing down the mountains and canyons.
00:45All that's left now is warped steel,
00:47piles of ash and memories.
00:49My insurance was canceled,
00:51so I'm kind of upset about that,
00:53but I know we'll find a way.
00:55Firefighters warned people
00:57before the windstorm to pack a go
00:59bag and be ready to evacuate.
01:01If a fire sparked nearby,
01:02have that emergency plan and make
01:04sure everyone in your family knows
01:06it before the emergency like old
01:08Santa Ana wind driven fire moves
01:10so quickly it doesn't give you
01:12time to come up with it. Then
01:14Lisa listened. It was a decision
01:16that made a difference because of
01:18that I could help my neighbors
01:20and I'm so glad because one of
01:22my neighbors just had a stroke
01:24and she didn't make it.
01:26And she didn't know like she didn't know.
