00:00Karan was not ready.
00:01It's the toughest thing to stake your little child.
00:05And have these 10 doctors explain to you what all can happen.
00:30Honestly, our journey has been very different from any normal mother and father.
00:39It's been a lot tougher than the smile that I have on my face right now.
00:44And I would not wish this to happen to any, any mother.
00:48For a new mother, when you get to know that I got to know on the third day of my baby,
00:54having a baby that our baby is born with two holes in our heart.
01:00I thought I'll not share this, but I'm sharing this because I feel that there are a lot of
01:04mothers who helped me in my journey.
01:06And it took me a lot of, you know, it was very difficult to find those mothers.
01:12But I really feel that when you give birth, you don't feel like anything can be wrong
01:17with your child.
01:19And we were the same as parents.
01:22And we didn't even understand what a VSD is, you know, it's a ventricular septal defect.
01:31And we were like, what is that?
01:34It's, you know, we've heard about it, you know, when kids grow, it shuts on its own.
01:40We went through a crazy period.
01:43So we didn't say, discuss this with our family.
01:46We both were in a little bit of a blur when we came out of the hospital.
01:51And it was a, we wanted to celebrate, but we just, we were a little numb, me and Karan.
01:59And I can just say now, like, it's last three months that we are fine.
02:05But the first five months have been very difficult for our journey with Devi.
02:11But Devi has been fabulous from day one.
02:14She never showed any signs of anything.
02:16She's a fighter.
02:18She's fierce.
02:19She's a super active kid from the time she was born.
02:24And we were told that every month we had to do a scan to know if it's feeling on its own.
02:32But the kind of large hole that she had, we were told that it's doubtful, you will have
02:38to go through a surgery.
02:41And the surgery is best done when the child is three months old.
02:46I'm saying, right now, it's quite a matter of fact, I'm actually better now.
02:51I thought I'll not be able to say this.
02:54Though, see, basically, the information is what I want to give out to people if they
03:00are going through something like this.
03:04It's like, so, like, you feel so sad, and you feel so burdened, and you feel so, you
03:11know, conflicted.
03:14How can you put such a small child in an open heart surgery?
03:17You know, something natural will happen.
03:19And people like us who are believers, who like to manifest, we try to manifest it with
03:24our thoughts that it'll start healing.
03:27It'll stop the first month, didn't happen.
03:30Stop the second month, didn't happen.
03:32And I remember the third month when we went for the scan, I pretty much had done all the
03:37research, met surgeons, seen the hospitals, spoken to doctors, and I was kind of, I think,
04:03Karan was not ready.
04:05I was pretty much ready to kick this out of her.
04:09Like, I knew that it had to be, I know that she had to be okay.
04:15And I knew she will be okay.
04:17So, and she is okay now.
04:25But the tough decision was to take that, you had to take the decision of getting your child
04:31operated in the right place at the right time.
04:35And honestly, it's the toughest thing to take your little child and have these 10 doctors
04:42explain to you what all can happen.
04:50But still, if you are, if you love your child, you must do it.
04:57However difficult it is, you must do it because your future of your child is safe.
05:03And Devi had a very successful operation.
05:09I didn't have any doubt about it.
05:11But it was those six hours when she was in the OT, my life felt like it stopped.
05:19Karan, actually, my Karan is generally very brave.
05:25I am generally fatu.
05:28Something else happened.
05:30And they say that mothers get some powers.
05:33And I remember just before the operation, I had to tell her, baby, you are going into
05:38an operation.
05:39Mama, Papa, Dad, I had to tell her everything.
05:43And I told her everything.
05:45And she looked at me and she said, and I felt like, you know, she's looking at me and telling
05:50me that Mama, I'm going to be fine.
05:53And my husband was a mess.
05:59But after the operation, we were told it's absolutely successful.
06:02And it's the best time for us because we didn't wait even a week after the three months.
