00:00And I've got a million things I want to ask you to do it.
00:02And I love how you're dressed. You're dressed like a star.
00:05Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most
00:08famous actors who are known for being a little peculiar.
00:12You're insane.
00:16But you might also be brilliant.
00:20Number 10. Tommy Wiseau
00:21What client? I cannot tell you. It's confidential.
00:24Oh, come on. Why not?
00:26No, I can't. Anyway, how is your sex life?
00:29Most of what we know about Tommy Wiseau comes via Greg Sestero,
00:33who recounted his time making The Room in his famous book The Disaster Artist,
00:37and what it portrays is a very odd man. He seems very passionate about the art of filmmaking,
00:41but his unconventional behavior and bizarre quirks often resulted in, well, disaster.
00:47You are lying. I never hit you. You are tearing me apart, Lisa!
00:52He also has a habit of giving cryptic, non-linear answers in interviews,
00:55and most of his past remains shrouded in mystery, adding to a general aura of intrigue.
01:00And finally, there's his general personality quirks,
01:03like that iconic laugh, distinctive speech patterns, and his habit of wearing sunglasses indoors.
01:08Tommy Wiseau is very strange, but that's exactly why we love him.
01:11What I forgot, what I realized is he was wearing the glasses.
01:19He wears those when he watches movies.
01:22Number 9. Tilda Swinton
01:24With her trademark white hair, Tilda Swinton is easily one of the most distinctive actresses of
01:36her generation. She tends to embrace unconventionality in both her professional
01:40and personal life. That includes taking on many avant-garde roles and embracing
01:44that striking, androgynous look, which has become her signature effect.
01:54She also really enjoys her privacy, eschewing the Hollywood norms to live
02:00a secluded life in the rocky highlands of Scotland. And that's not even mentioning
02:03the time she slept in a glass box outside New York's Museum of Modern Art, for reasons.
02:08It isn't every day that you get to see an Oscar winner sleeping in a box,
02:11so are you loving it, or is it just ridiculous to you?
02:14Number 8. Andy Kaufman
02:24While more of a performance artist than an actor, Andy Kaufman became a household name playing Lotka
02:32Gravis on Taxi. A highly unconventional comic, Kaufman was one of those people that obscure
02:37their real personalities through constant jokes and pranks. Kaufman lived to subvert
02:42audience expectations, relishing in their confusion and bewilderment rather than their laughter.
02:46In fact, he was so aloof that when he died from lung cancer at just 35,
02:50many people thought that it was another elaborate prank. Some think he's still
02:53out there, watching the conspiracy unravel with a big grin on his face.
02:57Number 7. Joan Crawford
02:59While more of a performance artist than an actor, Joan Crawford became a household name playing
03:04Lotka Gravis on Taxi. A highly unconventional comic, Kaufman was one of those people that
03:08obscure their real personalities through constant jokes and pranks. Some think he's still out there,
03:13watching the conspiracy unravel with a big grin on his face.
03:16While more of a performance artist than an actor, Joan Crawford became a household name playing
03:21Lotka Gravis on Taxi. A highly unconventional comic, Kaufman was one of those people that
03:25Crawford. This legendary actress was considered a complex
03:38and multifaceted individual, with her eccentricities often stemming from her relentless ambition
03:43and exacting standards. Crawford's personal relationships were often tumultuous, marked
03:47by four different marriages and a series of high-profile feuds, most notably with her
03:51rival Betty Davis. She also had an obsession with cleanliness and style, having kept an
04:09impeccably clean house and dressing herself in elaborate outfits to maintain a lavish
04:13image. Finally, she had a number of personal eccentricities. For example, Crawford had
04:18an unwavering professionalism that tended to alienate her co-workers, and she was infamously
04:23painted as an abusive and unbalanced mother by her daughter, Christina. However, this
04:27portrayal has been criticized by others who knew Crawford well, including Betty Davis.
04:376. Crispin Glover With his weird, creative pursuits and enigmatic
05:02personality, Crispin Glover certainly has a penchant for defying mainstream expectations.
05:07Glover has made a number of unconventional career choices, often gravitating towards
05:12offbeat characters with antisocial tendencies. He also embarked on a number of eclectic pursuits,
05:34like making provocative avant-garde films, writing surreal books, and even releasing
05:38an album of music. And let's not forget his unpredictable behavior on red carpets
05:42and late-night talk shows, like when he wore platform shoes on Letterman and almost kicked
05:46the host in the head.
05:565. Orson Welles
06:08This actor was a man of immense talent and creativity, but he often defied conventional
06:12norms both in Hollywood and in his personal endeavors. While some of his behavior might
06:16come across as normal today, he was considered highly unusual at the time. Despite his enormous
06:22fame, Welles was considered an outsider in Hollywood, often shying away from celebrity,
06:27working outside the studio system, taking on weird roles, and experimenting with both
06:31radio and film techniques. While unorthodox at the time, these techniques helped revolutionize
06:49the art of cinema and filmmaking. And even outside of his extravagant movies, Welles
06:53was a larger-than-life personality, complete with his sharp intellect and booming voice,
06:58magnetic personality, and penchant for extravagance. He was a showman through and through.
07:114. Nicolas Cage
07:28If you hear that Nicolas Cage will be starring in a movie, chances are it's gonna be Gonzo.
07:32Cage often chooses to play outlandish and abnormal characters, which he helps bring
07:36to memorable life through his unique acting style. Often described as over-the-top or
07:41even campy, Cage's acting emphasizes wild theatricality and lots of screaming.
07:46Some may call it overacting. We call it being Nicolas Cage. Even outside of movies, Cage brings
07:58a stamp of originality with bold, quirky outfits, unfiltered public behavior, and strange financial
08:04decisions. Whether it's vintage comic books, European castles, dinosaur skulls, or even
08:08two-headed snakes, it seems there's nothing that Cage won't purchase to satisfy his singular
08:13interests. 3. Gary Busey
08:25Considered one of the most eccentric actors in Hollywood, Gary Busey has long been the
08:40butt of jokes and is known far and wide for his animated personality and unfiltered speech.
08:45His interviews often feature unusual anecdotes, and he often makes up
08:49Buseyisms, which are hilarious acronyms meant to signify some type of truth or motivational message.
08:55For example, relationship or really excited love affair till it's over now sobriety hangs
09:09in peril. Busey is also a very philosophical man, often speaking on spiritual and metaphysical
09:15topics with great interest. Some suspect that Busey's erratic behavior stems from a tragic
09:20motorcycle accident in 1988 in which Busey fell off his bike, fractured his skull,
09:25and suffered brain damage. 2. Marlon Brando
09:38Despite being one of the GOATs, Marlon Brando is a strange guy,
09:52and a lot of people hated working with him. He was one of the first to embrace method acting,
09:55and he would often disregard scripts in favor of improvisation,
09:59both of which tended to annoy his co-workers. His on-set behavior was also questionable at best,
10:11as Brando is known for having a temper and would often antagonize the filmmakers
10:15by refusing to memorize lines and throwing tantrums when he didn't get his way.
10:19Even outside of his movies, Brando led an unconventional lifestyle, eschewing Hollywood
10:24and establishing his own village and environmental laboratory on the Atoll of Tetiaroa.

10:551. Klaus Kinski
11:06While he appeared in over 130 movies, Klaus Kinski is remembered largely for his erratic behavior
11:11and mental instability. In his lifetime, Kinski was infamous for his volatile temper,
11:16often creating unpredictable and hostile work environments. Screaming tantrums were the norm,
11:21and he even shot the finger off an extra on the set of Aguirre, The Wrath of God.
11:35Kinski also held contempt for social norms, often making grandiose public statements,
11:40refusing close relationships, and engaging in self-aggrandizement. In the 1950s,
11:45he was officially diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder,
11:48which many people attribute for his problematic behavior and complex legacy.
