Daniel Wales and Charles Hague-Jones review Bristol City exiting the FA Cup against Wolves.
Transcript
00:00Dan, looking at the FA Cup weekend and obviously Bristol City drawn at home to Premier League
00:08outfit Wolves. Now obviously a big occasion, a real chance to maybe cause an upset as we
00:16look going into it. But come 21 minutes into the game, Wolves were 2-0 up. Rodrigo Gomez,
00:24Ryan Aitnori just showed that bit of quality. Scott Twain obviously got them back with a
00:29fantastic free kick just before the break as well. So I mean it was not an awful result
00:34for Liam Manning's side and the FA Cup is always something that the Championship sides
00:40will like to get a little run in as well sometimes. We have mentioned a few times the demise of
00:47the FA Cup and how it's fallen and the rule changes constantly have hurt the fans' opinions
00:55of it, especially in the lower you go down the leagues. But how was Bristol City's take
01:00on this game and where it leaves them out of the FA Cup for the year? But not a bad
01:05showing against the Premier League side.
01:08I think they'll be slightly disappointed to be honest because when they got back into
01:11the game just before half-time you think well you've got the whole second half to go and
01:15conjure an equaliser and as I say I think that's a disappointment that they didn't then
01:20get themselves at least another goal to maybe take it further on. Wolves to be fair to them
01:25started out really well, professional against a lower league side in Bristol City but then
01:31to concede that one that obviously made the second half slightly more nervy for them but
01:36again they were professional in the second half, saw the game out, did what they needed
01:40to do, showed their class, their quality against the side below them in the football pyramid.
01:48For Bristol City I think it is a disappointment because as you say they had the chance but
01:52didn't take it and they were at home and their home form has been slightly better in
01:57recent weeks. They've picked up some good points in the Championship and they are doing
02:01alright in the league as well. I think they'll be ruining a missed opportunity, the fact
02:06that they couldn't at least take it to extra time and then if they go out then fair enough
02:10but they had a whole half to get back into it, didn't do that so that's a disappointment
02:14for Liam Manning's side. Obviously it means to them that they can now focus completely
02:17on the Championship but I don't think that they would have also been opposed to a little
02:22run in the FA Cup. It would have given their season an extra side to it as well, something
02:27that they perhaps weren't expecting given who they were drawn against but certainly
02:31wouldn't have been something they would have voted against. So as I say I think disappointment
02:36is the main word for Bristol City but it allows them to focus on the league. Liam Manning,
02:43he's probably ruining missed opportunities for them in terms of not taking the chances
02:48they had probably in that second half as well but again Premier League sides, they help
02:53to shut teams out very well and so overall a disappointment.
