00:15Despite his withdrawal, the Kamelec confirms his name will still appear on the ballot with
00:19any votes cast for him counted as stray.
00:22The Philippines enters a five-month election period at midnight on Sunday, January 12 for
00:27the midterm elections on May 12.
00:29During this period, additional security measures will be implemented to prevent election-related
00:34violence.
00:35So far, the Kamelec has marked 38 localities as red areas, indicating grave security risks.
00:41This means Kamelec checkpoints will be set up across the country.
00:44A gun ban is also in place until June 11, as well as a security or bodyguards ban and
00:49a ban on reaction or strike forces.
00:52Also prohibited are changes or additions to precincts and the suspension of local elective
00:56officials.
00:57The official campaign period does not start until March 28.
