00:04It happened in January 1992 and a large crowd turned out to watch the demolition of the
00:10two towers at Dorden Pit.
00:14The Castlereagh and Teresa Towers were brought down when schoolgirl Sarah Davey pressed the
00:20button to send them crashing to the ground.
00:23As Dad Keith watched, the last shift at Dorden Pit had completed their work in July 1991
00:31and finished at the stroke of midday on a July day, bringing an end to 84 years of mining
00:37at the colliery.
00:39Less than a year later, this was the scene at the East Durham Village as locals watched
00:45the demolition.
